Fans of the Bosch universe have good news: the spin-off series, Ballard, has been renewed for a second season on Prime Video. The show, starring Maggie Q, quickly became a hit when it premiered in July, topping streaming charts and receiving rave reviews. Ballard builds on the worlds of Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, adapting more of Michael Connelly’s popular novels. Viewers were eager to know if Maggie Q’s detective would return, and now it’s confirmed – she will be back to solve more cases.
The Prime Video series *Ballard* follows Renée Ballard, the head of the LAPD’s Cold Case Division, as she investigates long-unsolved murder cases. The show also brings back Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch, now retired, who appears in several episodes as a mentor to Ballard while she works to prove herself within the police department. He’s anticipated to continue assisting her in the second season, even with a new actor taking over the role. The cast also includes Courtney Taylor, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, and John Carroll Lynch.
Amazon MGM Studios is thrilled to announce a second season of *Ballard* for Prime Video customers around the world. Lauren Lancaster, Head of US SVOD TV Development and Series–Co-Productions, shared that the first season was a huge hit with viewers globally, thanks to its compelling story and the fantastic work of Maggie Q and the cast. Fans can look forward to even more in Season 2.
Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood, the co-showrunners and executive producers of *Ballard*, expressed their excitement about continuing the story for a second season. They shared that it’s a joy to explore the characters and world further, and they’re deeply appreciative of the audience’s positive response. They also praised the talented team behind the show and hinted at exciting things to come. “We’re thrilled to keep bringing this universe to life,” they said.
