A surprisingly good action movie from last year is now gaining popularity on streaming platforms. It features a famous comedic actor, best known for American Pie, in a dramatic role as a tough, unconventional hero. Though many recognize him as the character Stifler, he shines as a rebellious undercover agent in this exciting film based on a true story.
Though Seann William Scott, known from American Pie, has appeared in action films before – including Bulletproof Monk, Welcome to the Jungle, and some of the Lethal Weapon movies – his latest role allows him to play a truly unconventional undercover agent. This character is a renegade with a tendency to cross the line and act more like a villain than a hero.
The action movie Bad Man is currently performing well on Prime Video’s top 10 list in the US. It’s sharing the spotlight with other popular action titles like The Wrecking Crew starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, Liam Neeson’s Blacklight, the pirate adventure The Bluff, and the award-winning film Sinners. It seems viewers are eager to see Seann William Scott in an action-packed role as a gun-toting law enforcer.
What Is ‘Bad Man’ All About?
Director Michael Diliberti’s first feature film, Bad Man, is inspired by a true story and co-written with JJ Nelson. The action-comedy features a talented cast including Seann William Scott, Johnny Simmons (known from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and The Late Bloomer), Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street), and Kaitlin Doubleday (Waiting… and Accepted). Chance Perdomo, Lovi Poe, Marcelle LeBlanc, Erik Audé, and John Patrick Jordan also star.
Bad Man features familiar elements of the crime genre: a struggling small town overrun by crime and drugs, a disturbing murder, and a lone, determined police officer who might be the only one capable of solving the case. The story also follows Sheriff Sam Evans (Johnny Simmons), a disheartened lawman who’s lost the public’s faith and is looking for a chance to regain his reputation.
Seann William Scott plays Bobby Gaines, a new, ambitious cop who quickly becomes a hero to the local police. Detective Evans is partnered with him to investigate a case, but as they learn more, Evans begins to suspect that Gaines isn’t who he appears to be.
