Surprisingly enough, the Common Grimoire of Elements stands out as an excellent choice for beginners due to several key factors. For one, it offers four versatile spells that are readily available without needing any initial investment of points.

  • Arcane Veil

Three of these spells grant fundamental control over all three elements and associated status effects. What makes them particularly valuable, however, is their ability to resolve any elemental puzzles in the early stages of the game and bypass certain barriers as required. However, remember that you need to have achieved Level 5 and possess the Wizard talent: Grimoire Mastery I to utilize it effectively.

Missile Salvo is not really an early-game spell, so I won’t get into detail about it.

In the game of Avowed, healing sources outside of food and potions are hard to come by, making this spell an invaluable asset. The cherry on top? It’s a fundamental spell, meaning every build can incorporate it into their strategy.

Moreover, there’s an item called Parasitic Staff that offers a handy feature: it restores your Mana (Essence) whenever you hit an enemy with it. When you cast this spell, it materializes a staff in your hands, and every successful strike will replenish your Essence. Given the cost of spells for Wizards, Parasitic Staff works exceptionally well with their class.

Given their name, they are quite common and often turn up as loot in chests or sitting idly on desks and tables in various spots. If you’re exploring Dawnshore thoroughly, it’s almost certain you’ll come across several of them.

In a nearby location south of Breath’s Gateway, you can discover Anextili’s Grimoire next to the remains of a deranged Pyromancer. This Pyromancer has a tendency to explode when approached.

His body is situated atop a hill, offering a view of the campsite below. Keep an eye out for a flag on the cliffside nearby. If you haven’t visited this location previously, be aware that a significant battle may await you as a whole camp of enemies is likely to be stationed there.

The mysterious tome known as Beothel’s Grimoire is located within the grounds of Paradais itself. You can acquire it from a merchant named Merylin, who is situated right to the west of the Eastern Paradise Gate Beacon.
