Avowed An Untimely End Quest Choice | Kill Your Assassin or Free Him

In this gaming experience, I’ll lay out the consequences of choosing between killing the assassin during the “An Untimely End” quest in Avowed, or letting him live in Dawnshore. Here’s the scoop:

If you decide to off the assassin, expect a wave of repercussions. The town may become hostile towards you, and you might find yourself dealing with potential future issues related to your decision. On the flip side, if you show him mercy, the town may view you as a hero or an ally, potentially opening up new opportunities for cooperation.

So, gamers, remember that sometimes mercy can be the smarter choice!

Avowed An Untimely End Quest Choice | Should you Kill your Assassin or Free Him?

In terms of the “Avowed” Untimely End quest option, choosing to spare your assassin instead of eliminating him is wiser. This decision not only prevents an unnecessary battle, but it also simplifies a future Side Quest.

To summarize, upon arriving at the city of Paradis in Dawnshore, you get hit with an arrow right off the bat. Following this, you have a chat with The Voice, and then you regain consciousness. At a later point, you’ll pursue and face your attacker.

In a different phrasing, an assassin claims a divine vision showed him your likeness, prompting him to take your life. You now face the choice between granting him forgiveness or engaging in a battle with him instead.

If you decide to avenge yourself by taking down your assassin, you’ll find the Blackwing Armor Light Armor on him. This Unique Item comes with two enchantments that boost your Stealth Attack Damage by 30% and your Move Speed by 25%, respectively. It’s a decent piece of armor, but it seems to cater more towards specific playstyles.

From my perspective as an avid player, choosing to release him won’t just let him go scot-free; instead, it comes with its own rewards. You’ll earn a valuable piece of Adra, perfect for enhancing your gear, and some Skeyt too. Moreover, you’ll acquire a “Writ of Passage” that will prove quite useful in the upcoming zone, Emerald Stair.

At Emerald Stair, you’ll encounter a Side Mission titled “Food Theft.” As your journey progresses, you’ll uncover that the Paradisan Rebels, having abandoned Dawnshore, have secreted themselves within Riverside Cave, located in the north of Emerald Stair. Notably, they’ve pilfered food from Sielo the Farmer, which he urgently needs for his ailing wife.

Should you fail to show mercy towards your assassin, obtaining both the Writ of Passage and retrieving Sielo’s stolen food will prove challenging. The primary method involves engaging in combat against a considerable number of Paradisan Rebels, among whom are three significant figures known for their resilience.

Instead, by showing mercy to the assassin, there’s a chance they may become more amenable to peace. In this case, you could propose that they continue to provide food, but in return, you would offer medical supplies for Sielo’s wife.

Choosing the non-violent approach, you can subsequently return the medical supplies to Sielo. He won’t ask for any payment from you, but instead, he’ll give you the unique ring called “Forager’s Friend”. This ring boosts food’s ability to restore your Health and Essence by 20%.

Engaging with the Paridisan Rebels doesn’t yield significant rewards beyond a modest amount of experience. Upon closer observation, it seems that none of the characters – even the three key figures – appear to possess any particularly remarkable Unique Items. To be honest, the battle is more of a nuisance unless you are well-equipped.

In other words, the sole circumstance under which you shouldn’t show mercy towards your assassin is if acquiring the Blackwing Armor is absolutely crucial for you. However, stealth combat might not be as effective in Avowed compared to some other games, so it may be wiser to simply let your assassin escape instead.
