Avengers Star Addresses Potential Absence or Inclusion in Doomsday & Secret Wars

Brie Larson hasn’t revealed if Captain Marvel will appear in the next two Avengers films.

Brie Larson has been playing Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the first Captain Marvel movie came out in 2019. She’s continued in the role with appearances in Avengers: Endgame (2019), The Marvels (2023), and smaller roles in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) and Ms. Marvel (2022).

Marvel Studios plans to release Avengers: Doomsday later this year, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. So far, there’s been no confirmation about whether Brie Larson will be in either of these movies.

What did Brie Larson say about Avengers: Doomsday?

Brie Larson recently told Entertainment Tonight that fans are wondering where her character, Carol Danvers, will be during the events of Avengers: Doomsday.

“Oh, you know that I can’t talk about that,” Larson said. “Nice try.”

After the events of The Marvels, Carol Danvers moved into Monica Rambeau’s old house on Earth. It appears she’s now living near Kamala Khan and her family, who helped her with the move. Carol even brought her alien companion, Goose, along!

Although this appearance doesn’t directly reveal what’s next for Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it could connect her to a future storyline involving Monica Rambeau. The post-credits scene showed Carol Danvers entering a universe with the X-Men. While Teyonah Parris, who plays Monica, hasn’t been officially confirmed for the upcoming Avengers movies, Doomsday or Secret Wars, Kelsey Grammer – who plays Beast and is speaking with Monica in the scene – has been cast, suggesting Monica will likely be part of the story in some way soon.

The next major Marvel movies are scheduled for release as follows: Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday will premiere on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will follow on December 17, 2027.
