A recent report offers some clues about what the X-Men could be doing in the next Avengers: Doomsday movie.
What’s the latest information on the X-Men’s role in Avengers: Doomsday?
A recent post by Alex Perez from My Cosmic Circus explains that the X-Men appearing in Avengers: Doomsday won’t be the same characters we’ve seen in the Fox films. Instead, they’ll be alternate versions from a different reality. Perez says this reality experienced events similar to those in the original X-Men trilogy and Days of Future Past.
Perez points out that the world depicted in the story is a seemingly perfect society where humans and mutants live together peacefully. However, he emphasizes that the story heavily focuses on the difficult choices and sacrifices made to achieve that peace, and that’s a key theme in Doomsday.
The central theme of Doomsday, according to writer Perez, revolves around the sacrifices people make for the greater good. This isn’t just a question for villains like Magneto, but for all the heroes involved – the Avengers, the Thunderbolts, the people of Wakanda, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and even figures like Steve Rogers, Thor, and Loki. The story explores what people would give up to achieve their goals or protect loved ones – their principles, convictions, abilities, or even their lives. It’s not simply about being willing to die, but about the kind of person you become in the face of ultimate sacrifice.
Perez suggested that the Sentinels will be joining the game, referencing a fan’s point that even in a perfect world, there will always be those who seek to cause trouble.
Okay, so “Avengers: Doomsday” is shaping up to be HUGE. I mean, they’ve got basically everyone! Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor, and I’m really excited to see Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards. Plus, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie continuing as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, and even Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man are all in it. It’s a seriously packed cast!
The movie’s cast includes Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
The next X-Men movie will feature the return of several familiar faces, including Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
The movie Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to come out on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
