The writer for the Avengers: Doomsday comic hinted at a surprising link to previous Marvel stories. They suggested a crucial event from the first season of Loki might reappear in a future Marvel project, possibly in an altered form.
Alternate Loki Season 1 ending might just happen in upcoming projects
Loki creator Michael Waldron suggested a discarded ending from Season 1 could show up in a future Marvel project. When a fan asked about the scrapped finale idea during a Reddit Q&A for his show Chad Powers, Waldron hinted it wasn’t entirely off the table, saying, “Maybe one day you’ll get to see it.” This comment has sparked renewed interest in the original ending that was ultimately replaced by the setup for Season 2.
The creators of Loki considered several different ways to end the first season. Ultimately, the story concluded with Sylvie killing He Who Remains, which caused the Sacred Timeline to break apart. Writer Michael Waldron has revealed they explored many alternative endings, leading fans to wonder what would have happened to Loki, Sylvie, and the TVA if the show hadn’t been renewed for a second season.
After the conclusion of Loki’s second season in 2023, Marvel hasn’t announced whether there will be a Season 3. The finale saw Loki take on the role of protector of the multiverse, essentially watching over all of time and reality, visualized as a massive, tree-like structure similar to the Norse Tree of Life. According to writer Eric Martin, some ideas he didn’t use for the season finale might show up in future Marvel stories that feature cosmic or multiversal elements.
As a huge Marvel fan, I was really interested to hear that Eric Waldron, who worked on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has also been brainstorming ideas for future Avengers movies. It definitely got me thinking – with his involvement, could we see Loki’s story tie into something much bigger? People are already buzzing about potential connections to villains like Doctor Doom, Galactus, or even the cosmic being, the Living Tribunal. It makes you wonder what Marvel has planned!
I’m so excited that both seasons of Loki are now available to stream on Disney+! It’s an incredible show created by Matthew Waldron, who also wrote everything, and the first season was directed by Kate Herron. Of course, Tom Hiddleston is amazing as Loki, but Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie and Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains really make the show special.
