Avengers: Doomsday – Will Steve Rogers Break No Way Home’s Spell? (Theory)

The movie Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker using a powerful spell to save the world from multiversal problems. As a result, nobody in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) remembers who Peter Parker is – though Doctor Strange’s spell might not last forever.

Both Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday are scheduled to come out in 2026. Recent hints about Avengers: Doomsday suggest the spell from Spider-Man: No Way Home might be reversed, allowing Spider-Man to team up with the Avengers and help save the multiverse.

No One Will Remember Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

At the start of “Brand New Day,” Peter Parker will likely find himself completely isolated. Doctor Strange’s spell, though essential to prevent a massive multiversal crisis, erased everyone’s memory of Peter Parker himself. However, people still remember Spider-Man – the masked hero who helped save the world – but have no idea he’s connected to Peter.

The core of Peter Parker’s sacrifice in Spider-Man: No Way Home is his complete isolation. By the end of the film, he’s utterly alone, having lost his connections with friends like MJ, Ned, and Happy. He’s also financially struggling, living anonymously in a small apartment.

Currently, Peter Parker is defined solely by being Spider-Man, similar to the down-to-earth stories often found in Spider-Man comics. It will be interesting to see how this new situation plays out in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, it’s likely that people will eventually remember Peter Parker’s identity again, and probably fairly soon.

Theory: Steve Rogers‘ Return In Avengers: Doomsday Could Break Doctor Strange’s Spider-Man Spell

The first trailer for the 2026 movie Avengers: Doomsday unexpectedly revealed that Chris Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers. This trailer was released as a preview before the Avatar: Fire & Ash trailers, and it confirms his return for the next major Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up.

At the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, the film showed that Steve Rogers traveled back in time and lived out his life with Peggy Carter. He returned the Infinity Stones, and finally got to share the dance he’d promised her in the original Captain America film, before being put on ice for seventy years.

It’s important to remember that Steve Rogers (Captain America) went back to the past before Doctor Strange’s spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home altered the present. This means he wasn’t affected by the changes to the timeline.

This suggests Steve might have been unaffected by the spell because it only altered memories in the current timeline. If this is the case, his return to the present to safeguard his life with Peggy and their child could mean he’s the only one left who knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

If Steve Rogers suddenly remembered Peter Parker, it could be the key to reversing the spell and bringing the Avengers back together just in time for the upcoming challenges like Doomsday and the Avengers: Secret Wars movie in 2027.

We Need Peter Parker To Be Remembered Before The Next Two Avengers Movies

Completely leaving Peter Parker out of the next two Avengers films would be a big missed opportunity. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man really shines when he’s working with other heroes, and it’s clear audiences enjoy those team-up moments. Having him fight alongside heroes who’ve forgotten him would lose all impact and undo the progress made in earlier Avengers movies.

It really hits me hard to think about Peter Parker running into the heroes he fought with, the ones who were there at Tony’s funeral… and them having absolutely no idea who he is anymore. Knowing they used to know him, shared all those experiences, and now it’s just…gone. Honestly, as a fan, that would be incredibly sad and leave me feeling really empty. It’s a heartbreaking thought!

Allowing the effects of the ‘No Way Home’ spell to be reversed – perhaps not necessarily by bringing Steve Rogers back – after fully examining them in ‘Brand New Day’ seems like the best path forward. This would likely improve the quality of the next two Avengers films, as well as future Spider-Man movies.

For Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to continue being a central, emotionally resonant character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peter Parker needs to be remembered – at least by those closest to him.

Seeing one version of Peter Parker forgotten should be enough to show us the pain and difficulty of the situation. It would be great if he’s remembered before the next two Avengers films, so he can help save the multiverse.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases July 31st, 2026 from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
