An important plot device from the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie will reportedly not appear in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Building on the many new TV shows and films within the Multiverse Saga, Doomsday promises to explore the multiverse concept more extensively than previous comic book movies. Despite all the groundwork laid for the film, Marvel Studios might not utilize every element they’ve previously established.
A recent rumor suggests Marvel Studios might be dropping the “Anchor Being” idea for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. According to a post by @Cryptic4KQual on X, the concept is causing problems and likely won’t be included in the film.
The movie Deadpool & Wolverine introduced the concept of “Anchor Beings” – entities crucial to maintaining the stability of a reality. Mr. Paradox, played by Matthew Macfadyen, explained that when an Anchor Being dies, their entire world gradually disappears. It was then revealed that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was the Anchor Being for Wade Wilson’s universe, and that universe began to fall apart after Wolverine seemingly died in the film Logan (2017).

A central idea in Deadpool & Wolverine is Deadpool’s quest to find another version of Logan after his death. He succeeds, and together, Deadpool and Logan defeat Cassandra Nova, saving not only their universe but also Earth-10005.
Marvel Studios is getting ready to release Avengers: Doomsday, the second movie in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fifth Avengers film overall. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, and features over 30 major actors from throughout the MCU and older Marvel films, all working together to stop him from endangering the entire multiverse. Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18th.
Why Anchor Beings’ Absence May Not Matter for Avengers: Doomsday

It might be surprising that the “Anchor Being” idea wasn’t included in Doomsday, but it might not ultimately affect how fans receive the story. The concept itself could have been too complex for audiences already anticipating a lot from the plot.
Some small details about the upcoming Doomsday movie have been revealed, hinting that it might be Marvel’s biggest and most elaborate film yet. Rumors suggest a battle between the Avengers and the X-Men could take place at the X-Mansion, and Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell are expected to reprise their roles as Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter.
It’s still unclear if Deadpool and Wolverine will have significant roles in Doomsday, as reports suggest they might only appear briefly alongside the film’s large ensemble cast. If the actors who first introduced the ‘Anchor Being’ concept aren’t involved in this movie, Marvel might not explore that idea further.
