The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday features a surprising return: original cast members from the X-Men. This crossover event marks a major collision of universes within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new footage follows earlier teasers that showed Chris Evans reprising his role as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
Although the exact story is still a secret, the new Marvel movie will clearly bring together different universes and time periods, all while facing a major threat from Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.). The initial trailers centered on themes of family, showing Captain America caring for a baby and Thor praying for a safe return to his adopted daughter, Love (India Rose Hemsworth).
Okay, so the latest sneak peek is a total curveball! It looks like they’re really leaning into the X-Men, and it’s pretty clear this isn’t the same universe as the regular MCU stuff. I’m guessing it’s that alternate reality we saw at the end of The Marvels – you know, when Monica Rambeau met Beast and a different version of her mom, who was Binary? It’s cool to see they’re building on that!
As a huge X-Men fan, I was so excited about the new Avengers: Doomsday teaser! And honestly, they made a change to how the X-Men characters are portrayed that I think fans like me are going to absolutely love. It’s a really cool twist on the classic characters!
Avengers: Doomsday reveals faithful Cyclops and Professor X outfits
The latest trailer for The Avengers: Doomsday reveals costumes inspired by classic X-Men designs – a Cyclops suit mirroring the comic books and a jacket modeled after Professor X’s look from the animated series. The trailer also showcases a destroyed X-Mansion, accompanied by a foreboding voiceover from Ian McKellen as Magneto, who says, “Death comes for us all, that’s all I know for sure. But the question isn’t are you prepared to die? The question is: Who will you be when you close your eyes?”
Professor X is shown wearing his signature green jacket with an ‘X’ on it, standing next to Magneto, who’s in a gray cloak over a red suit. The preview finishes with a look at Cyclops (James Marsden) in the classic blue and yellow costume from the comics, before he takes off his visor and fires his powerful red energy blast. This is a big departure from the black leather suit he wore in the earlier X-Men movies.
Sharp-eyed viewers have spotted massive footprints behind Cyclops, hinting that the Sentinels were responsible for the destruction of the X-Mansion. It’s still unclear how this connects to Doctor Doom’s attack on the broader Marvel Multiverse, though.
