A new trailer for the upcoming movie is now available online, and a third trailer shown in theaters offers the first glimpse of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden reprising their roles as Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops from the original X-Men films.
There’s been a lot of discussion about how the X-Men characters from the Fox films – including actors Alan Cumming and Kelsey Grammer – will be featured in the movie coming out in December 2026. Some initially thought they might just have brief appearances, but the trailer indicates they’ll have a much more significant role.
The trailer begins inside the X-Men Mansion, with a somber view of the building. We then see Charles Xavier’s wheelchair, and Xavier himself. A chessboard appears, with the king piece floating and controlled by Xavier’s powers. Erik and Charles join hands while considering the concept of death, sharing a smile. The scene quickly shifts to Cyclops taking off his visor and yelling as everything around him appears to ignite with energy, with a Sentinel looming in the background.
The trailer features narration by Ian McKellen, who says, “Death comes for everyone, that much I know. The real question isn’t whether you’re ready to die, but who you’ll be when your time comes.” The teaser concludes with a shot of the Doomsday Clock and the announcement, “The X-Men Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Is Reportedly Getting Even More Teasers

Disney
Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be the biggest movie of 2026 and potentially its highest-grossing film, even with strong competition. It will be up against new releases like a big-screen Star Wars movie featuring The Mandalorian & Grogu – the first in seven years – as well as Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Disney’s live-action Moana, which hopes to follow the success of Lilo & Stitch from the previous year.
Originally, Marvel Studios planned to release four short teasers for the new movie with showings of Avatar: Fire and Ash in December and January. However, recent reports indicate those plans might have shifted. A new teaser is still expected on January 8th, and some believe it will showcase characters from both Wakanda and the Fantastic Four. Additionally, a longer trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is rumored to debut during the Super Bowl in February, with more teasers appearing in the weeks leading up to it.

It seems like a natural fit for Marvel Studios to debut the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day during the Super Bowl. They’ve seen incredible success with Super Bowl trailers before, like those for Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine, which both broke records thanks to the exposure from the major sporting event. Now, fans are wondering if Marvel might even release two big trailers at once. Only time will tell if that will happen.
