Bill Pullman recently spoke with Esquire magazine about his role in the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: Doomsday. He explained that the movie explores fundamental human themes, saying it’s a return to the core ideas that inspire storytelling. Despite featuring a large ensemble cast, Pullman noted that directors Anthony and Joe Russo were dedicated to ensuring the film had a meaningful story and wasn’t just a series of brief appearances.

Pullman noted that every character, no matter how small, gets a chance to shine and develop, adding depth to the story. He praised the Russo brothers for achieving this, emphasizing their commitment to giving all actors – a truly talented group – meaningful roles and avoiding anyone being relegated to the background. They understood the importance of making the most of having such a strong cast.
The actor shared that there are many exciting potential collaborations on the horizon, and fans will be thrilled to see which ones happen. It’s fun to imagine different actors working together – who would be a good match? And sometimes, those dream pairings actually become reality.
Doomsday will be the first live-action Marvel movie where the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four all appear together. Although Marvel Studios is planning to restart the X-Men movie series, the X-Men characters in Doomsday will be played by the same actors who portrayed them in the previous films made by 20th Century Fox.
Avengers: Doomsday Is the First True Crossover of the Multiverse Saga
Pullman’s statements are particularly interesting because the current Multiverse Saga hasn’t seen as much team-up action compared to the previous Infinity Saga. So far, only two movies – The Marvels and Thunderbolts – have brought heroes together, though a few Disney+ series, like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law with Daredevil, have included guest appearances.
The upcoming Doomsday event is set to create surprising team-ups, such as Black Panther joining forces with the Fantastic Four. It will also introduce fresh interactions between characters who haven’t often crossed paths in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, leading to some interesting and new dynamics.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on Dec. 18.
