Even though it’s over a year away, fans are already getting glimpses of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie thanks to photos taken on the set. The film, set to release in 2026, will follow Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they travel through the Marvel Multiverse to battle Doctor Doom. Currently, that’s all that’s known about the story of this new Marvel Studios blockbuster.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m still waiting for any real news about the next Avengers film! Marvel’s been super secretive so far, and while there’s talk of a first trailer possibly dropping before the end of the year, it sounds like it won’t reveal much, even then. They’re really holding back on details!
So far, the most information fans have had about the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday has come from pictures taken on the set during filming.
The next Avengers movie, titled Avengers: Doomsday, is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. The film will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously directed several movies in the series. It promises a massive team-up across multiple universes, threatened by the villainous plans of Victor Von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The movie will feature popular Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes like Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), and Captain America (Anthony Mackie), along with returning stars such as Sir Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden.
4 Avengers: Doomsday Spoilers Revealed From Set Photos
A Battle at the X-Mansion

Before the release of Avengers: Doomsday, fans caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a battle taking place at the X-Mansion, home to the X-Men. Early photos from the set showed the famous location heavily damaged, suggesting a major fight had occurred there.
The pictures showed large craters, damaged plants, and, notably, the wreckage of what looked like a Sentinel – a machine built to hunt mutants.
We don’t yet know exactly who will be fighting who in this scene at the X-Mansion, but there’s talk that Doctor Doom might use the Sentinels in the movie to defeat the X-Men.
A Potential Return to Steve and Peggy

As a longtime follower of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I know a lot of us have been hoping to see Chris Evans reprise his role as Steve Rogers ever since Avengers: Endgame. And it looks like our wish might finally be coming true with the new film, Doomsday! Early buzz suggests we’ll not only get more Captain America, but also a welcome return for Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, which is fantastic news.
Photos from the set of the upcoming comic book movie show a house that looks very similar to the one Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter were at together at the end of Endgame. This has led fans to speculate that the characters might return, though there’s been no official confirmation.
Considering this, along with reports that the actions of Evans’ hero might be what sets Doctor Doom’s plan for conquering the multiverse in motion, it strongly suggests these characters will be back.
M’Baku’s Desert Adventure

Although most of Avengers: Doomsday was filmed in London, England, the production team traveled to Bahrain to shoot scenes with Winston Duke as M’Baku in the desert.
A photo from the set of Doomsday, filmed in Bahrain, shows Duke as his Wakandan character, suggesting the Jabari tribe leader will be involved in a desert storyline.
The location, covered in sand, is a mystery. Fans are guessing it could be an undiscovered area of Wakanda, The Void, or even a completely new world we haven’t seen in any Marvel Cinematic Universe movie or show yet.
Shang-Chi Will Get an Upgrade

Simu Liu, who played Shang-Chi in the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will be joining the Avengers team in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Fans haven’t seen his character since his first appearance, making his return highly anticipated.
Things are about to shift in the next Avengers film, as Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi is officially joining the team. He might even debut a completely new costume! A photo shared by the Shang-Chi star during the filming of Doomsday quickly spread online, showing a glimpse of a hidden Shang-Chi outfit inside a garment bag.
Liu’s character, Shang-Chi, usually wears a specific dragon-scale costume. So, it’s strange he’d bother concealing it. This likely means he’ll be getting a brand new, improved suit in the upcoming movie – a common practice for heroes like the Avengers.
