Avengers: Doomsday Rumors Add 8 New MCU Characters To Cast

A recent rumor suggests eight new actors might be joining the cast of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, though most of these additions haven’t been officially announced. Doomsday already boasts a huge cast – one that’s getting even bigger after the first trailers were released. While these characters are expected to be central to the film, many other familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are also likely to appear.

Okay, so a reliable source, Scooper My Time To Shine Hello, just dropped a pretty comprehensive cast list for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Apparently, after filming wrapped, they’ve detailed who’s in it. Now, they do suggest more names could be added during reshoots, but the exciting part is this list includes eight actors and their characters that Marvel hasn’t officially announced for the sequel yet. It’s definitely getting me hyped to see who shows up!

Currently, 29 actors are confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday, and rumors suggest even more will join them. Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers, and India Rose Hemsworth will reprise her role as Love from Thor: Love and Thunder. Here are eight other stars who are reportedly part of the movie’s cast:

8 New Additions to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday

Iman Vellani – Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel

A new rumor suggests Iman Vellani will reprise her role as Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Vellani first played the character in her own Disney+ series in 2022, and then returned for a cameo alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in the 2023 film The Marvels.

It’s unclear what part Vellani’s character will play in Doomsday, but the bracelets that give her powers are expected to be a key plot device. She’s also believed to be a founding member of the MCU’s Young Avengers, and this film might show them finally coming together as a team.

Hailee Steinfeld – Kate Bishop / Hawkeye

Hailee Steinfeld, who plays Kate Bishop, is expected to appear in Doomsday alongside Ms. Marvel. Bishop, a skilled archer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appeared in the Disney+ series Hawkeye in 2021 and made a brief cameo with Ms. Marvel at the end of The Marvels.

Kate Bishop, age 23, is expected to be a key leader of the Young Avengers, alongside Ms. Marvel, when the Doomsday storyline arrives. Though Hailee Steinfeld’s recent pregnancy might create some scheduling difficulties during filming, fans are excited to see her return as the skilled archer in her third Marvel Cinematic Universe role.

Kathryn Newton – Cassie Lang

Kathryn Newton continued a trend started by Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrman by playing Cassie Lang in the 2023 film Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. If she appears in Doomsday, it would be only her second time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the second time Cassie is shown as a fully developed superhero, known as Stature.

Late in 2025, Newton was spotted at Disneyland wearing a hat referencing the movie Avengers: Doomsday, hinting she’ll be part of the cast. While it’s unclear exactly what her role will be, she’s been practicing with the shrinking technology created by Hank Pym, and it seems she’s building connections with other young heroes who are also in the film.

Gwyneth Paltrow – Pepper Potts

Gwyneth Paltrow, who has been in seven Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, might appear in an eighth. Though she’s been hesitant to confirm anything, rumors suggest she’ll return. Paltrow first played Pepper Potts in 2008’s Iron Man and has since appeared in all three Iron Man movies and three of the first four Avengers films.

This film could be Pepper Potts’ first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Avengers: Endgame (2019), and fans anticipate she’ll continue using the Rescue armor created by Tony Stark. Given Robert Downey Jr.’s role as Victor Von Doom, Paltrow’s return would likely be very impactful, especially if her character encounters a villain who resembles the late Tony Stark.

Hayley Atwell – Peggy Carter / Doom

In December 2024, Deadline reported that Hayley Atwell will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. This will be her ninth project within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, adding to her work on the Agent Carter series and two episodes of Agents of SHIELD Season 2.

A recent rumor from My Time To Shine Hello suggests Hayley Atwell might play not one, but two roles in the next Avengers film: Peggy Carter and a version of Doctor Doom. This, combined with talk of a larger role for Atwell than we’ve seen before, and the possibility of a female Doctor Doom, hints at a potentially significant storyline for her long-running Marvel character.

Ryan Reynolds – Wade Wilson / Deadpool

Look, as someone who’s been watching Ryan Reynolds hustle for years, seeing him finally land in the MCU with 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge win – and it absolutely crushed box office records, becoming the biggest R-rated film of all time. Now, the buzz is that he might be eyeing a role in the upcoming Doomsday project, though honestly, nothing’s been confirmed yet. It’s all just whispers at this point, but boy, would that be something!

Given Deadpool’s knowledge of the multiverse and his habit of directly addressing the audience, he’d be a great addition to the cast to explain the concept of multiple universes to viewers who aren’t familiar with it. Plus, his humor and the opportunity to team up with at least seven other X-Men already confirmed for the project could significantly boost the film’s excitement.

Hugh Jackman – Logan / Wolverine

Hugh Jackman is reportedly joining the cast of Doomsday with Ryan Reynolds, and he’ll be reprising his famous role as Wolverine. This would mark his 11th time playing Wolverine, including his second appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Deadpool and Wolverine. It would also tie him with other X-Men actors as having the longest run playing a Marvel character ever.

With heroes like Professor X, Cyclops, Mystique, and Gambit already set to appear in Doomsday, adding Wolverine would round out the classic X-Men lineup. Considering a potential team-up with Deadpool as well, it makes sense that Marvel would want to bring back two of their most popular heroes from the Multiverse Saga for another adventure.

Tobey Maguire – Peter Parker / Spider-Man

It’s unclear if Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man in the upcoming movie, but reports suggest Tobey Maguire is already confirmed to appear. This would be his second time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his return in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, and his fifth time playing Spider-Man overall.

Rumors suggest that during filming of Doomsday, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man wore a motion capture suit instead of his regular costume. This was likely done to keep his appearance a secret. If true, it would mark his first on-screen interactions with other Marvel heroes, like the Avengers – a team he didn’t know existed in No Way Home. His role in the movie remains unknown.
