Sam Worthington shared encouraging news about the next installments in the Avatar series. He revealed that some footage for both Avatar 4 and 5 has already been filmed, which has generated a lot of enthusiasm among fans.
Sam Worthington says they’ve already shot some scenes for Avatar 4 and 5
Sam Worthington revealed that filming has already begun on parts of both Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. While promoting the latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, he explained that work on all the sequels happened at the same time, with production overlapping.
Sam Worthington explained that James Cameron is waiting to see how the new Avatar film does before fully committing to making Avatar 4 and Avatar 5. Worthington believes this caution is perfectly understandable, saying Cameron isn’t arrogant and simply wants to tell a story that resonates with audiences. He feels Cameron wants to ensure there’s enough interest to justify continuing the series.
The actor revealed that they filmed some scenes for future Avatar sequels while working on earlier films. When asked if footage for the fourth or fifth movie already exists, he said they filmed scenes with the younger actors. He explained that Avatar 4 jumps ahead in time, so they needed to capture those future scenes now.
Worthington explained that working with Jim is a collaborative and evolving process. Jim will likely continue to refine the project, and he’ll let them know when he’s ready to move forward. However, Worthington believes Jim is currently prioritizing finishing his current film, and that’s the main reason for the delay.
