Later this year, Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive a new expansion called From the Ashes, timed to match the theatrical release of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. Ubisoft has recently revealed details about the expansion, including how much gameplay it will offer.
Ubisoft estimates that the ‘From the Ashes’ content will take around 20 hours to experience. However, the actual time it takes players to finish will depend on how they choose to play. Ubisoft notes that completion time will vary from person to person.
To play the ‘From the Ashes’ expansion, you need to own the ‘Frontiers of Pandora’ game. However, you can access the expansion’s content directly from the main menu – you don’t need to finish anything first to begin.
Because Frontiers of Pandora was released in 2023, players starting From the Ashes might appreciate a refresher on the story. Ubisoft has provided a brief recap video to help them get caught up.
The new $25 expansion pack becomes available on December 19th, coinciding with the release of the movie Fire and Ash. To play, you’ll need the original game, or you can purchase the $40 Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes Edition, which includes both the game and the expansion.
You can also buy a Complete Edition of the game from Ubisoft for $60. This version includes the base game, the ‘From the Ashes’ expansion, and access to all Season Pass content.
Okay, so I’m playing as So’lek in this new story called ‘From the Ashes’, and it’s a pretty emotional ride – all about dealing with loss and getting revenge, according to Ubisoft. The cool thing is, Ubisoft is dropping a free update for Frontiers of Pandora on December 5th that lets you play in third-person. And even better, ‘From the Ashes’ will work with either first-person or third-person, so I can choose how I want to experience it.
Ubisoft will broadcast a deep dive for From the Ashes on November 20, so check back soon for more.
