Sigourney Weaver is eager to reprise her role in future Avatar movies following ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ though she notes that plans for the fourth and fifth films haven’t been finalized. The third installment picks up just weeks after ‘The Way of Water,’ continuing the Sully family’s struggle to protect themselves and Pandora.
In Fire and Ash, the danger is significantly greater because Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) has teamed up with Varang (Oona Chaplin), the leader of the Mangkwan people, whose home was wiped out by a volcanic eruption. Their alliance is uneasy and fraught with conflict.
As the Resources Development Administration increases its efforts to colonize the planet and hunt the Tulkun—whale-like creatures valuable for a brain chemical worth millions—the Sully family fights to protect their home. Meanwhile, Kiri (Sigourney Weaver) is learning to understand and control her unique connection to Pandora’s plants and animals.
So, this new Avatar movie feels like the biggest one yet, but honestly, I’m still not sure if we’ll even get Avatar 4 and 5. Apparently, the producer, Jon Landau, hasn’t fully committed to those sequels, which is kinda worrying as a fan!
Sigourney Weaver says Avatar 4 and 5 have “so much more story”

TopMob recently spoke with Sigourney Weaver about her character Kiri in the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash. Weaver hinted that there’s much more story planned for the Na’vi in Avatar 4 and 5, but those sequels will only happen if fans enjoy the current films.
She expressed hope for future installments, saying there’s plenty more story to explore and the narrative has strong potential. However, she acknowledged that James Cameron hasn’t made a final decision, so those plans are uncertain.
She also talked about Kiri’s developing powers and how they could be crucial for the Na’vi people’s future. The actress shared that in the next movie, Kiri will explore the origins of her abilities and discover her own path.
Weaver highlighted what resonated with her in this section of the story: the children being forced to rely on each other and their own inner strength because their parents are preoccupied and unable to help them. It’s about them finding a way forward on their own.
Kiri is really struggling with these new abilities and where they came from, but she knows she needs to accept them and move forward.
While we wait to see if Avatar 4 and 5 will be made, let’s explore the meaning behind the title of the next film, Avatar: Fire and Ash. We’ll also look at James Cameron’s thoughts on using AI actors and investigate whether a hidden villain might be part of the story.
