Mary Wiseman returned as Lt. Tilly in the eighth episode of Starfleet Academy, and she was great! She played the character much as she always has, though perhaps with a bit more confidence, which was a welcome change. Even though she left Discovery at the end of “The Life of the Stars,” it looks like she’ll likely return to teach more classes sometime. The episode also focused heavily on another member of the main Starfleet Academy cast, and their connection to another Star Trek series helped make their storyline particularly compelling.

Rather than continuing the story directly from Scream 6, the new film, Scream 7, feels like a reset. It brings back Sidney, who wasn’t in the previous movie due to a disagreement with Neve Campbell, after the planned leads, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, left the project. The film completely drops the plotline involving the Carpenter sisters and is built around the idea that Scream 6 – a Scream movie without Sidney – didn’t work.

Luise Rainer made history in 1938 by winning the Best Actress Oscar for The Good Earth. While some TV shows become classics, many Netflix series don’t have that staying power. Netflix has gained a reputation for ending shows right when they’re becoming popular, and unfortunately, this trend continues even looking ahead to 2026, with a growing number of series canceled prematurely.

Despite some significant issues, the new slasher sequel is expected to perform well in theaters. Critics haven’t been kind – it currently has a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the lowest score in the entire Scream series (only Scream 3 scored lower at 45%). The film has also faced controversy stemming from the firing of Melissa Barrera, a star of the previous two Scream movies, after she shared pro-Palestine views on social media.

Directed by Len Wiseman, who also worked on the Underworld films, Ballerina is a new spin-off connected to the John Wick universe. The film takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4. Ana de Armas stars as Eve Macarro, a skilled assassin and dancer trained from a young age by Anjelica Huston’s character, the Director, and the Ruska Roma. Eve is also determined to avenge her father’s death.

The show centers around the students at Brakebills University, a college for learning magic. Led by Quentin Coldwater, Julia Wicker, and Margo Hanson, this group of young magicians discovers the magical world is in danger, and they must work together to protect it.

The new film, written and directed by Schoenbrun and produced by Plan B, continues their exploration of trans identity and queer horror with their distinctive, striking style. MUBI financed the project, which stars Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kevin McDonald, Quintessa Swindell, and Jack Haven. The story centers on a young director tasked with reviving a struggling slasher franchise, “Camp Miasma.” When she seeks out the original film’s reclusive star, they both become entangled in a terrifying and unsettling world of passion, dread, and madness.
