Sinners’ Jayme Lawson Says BAFTAs Were Exploitative, Not Inclusive

During a television appearance last weekend, John Davidson, an advocate for people with Tourette’s syndrome, involuntarily used a racial slur directed at Jordan and Lindo. Davidson has coprolalia, a condition where tics manifest as offensive outbursts. While viewers were informed about his condition, Lawson argues that more could have been done to ensure the safety and well-being of both Davidson and his fellow cast members. She believes simply including someone with a disability isn’t enough; true inclusivity requires providing the support needed to prevent harm. Lawson stated that Davidson’s disability was exploited during the incident, leading to harmful outcomes.
