Disney Passing on The Hunt for Ben Solo Is ‘Insane’ to Steven Soderbergh

Steven Soderbergh and Adam Driver had developed a sequel idea, written by Scott Z. Burns, that would have focused on Ben Solo, Driver’s character Kylo Ren, and explored what happened after his redemption in The Rise of Skywalker. Driver described the script as incredibly impressive. Soderbergh explained the project involved about two and a half years of unpaid work from his team, including Driver and Burns, along with co-writer Rebecca Blunt. Kathleen Kennedy, former president of Lucasfilm, acknowledged the script was excellent and left the door open to future possibilities. However, Soderbergh revealed the project ultimately stalled because Disney executives didn’t believe Ben Solo could have survived.
