Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor for his role in One Battle After Another, despite Jacob Elordi and Stellan Skarsgard winning other pre-BAFTA awards. Wunmi Mosaku from Sinners took home Best Supporting Actress, following wins by Amy Madigan and Teyana Taylor. The biggest surprise of the night was Robert Aramayo winning Best Actor for the British independent film I Swear, which isn’t released in the US until April. This win throws the Oscar race for Best Actor into question, as Timothée Chalamet, who was the front-runner, didn’t win at the BAFTAs.
