The author of Reacher on why the Prime Video adaptation is superior to Tom Cruise’s: “No novelist would ever have chosen anything else”

In a recent interview with Shortlist, Lee Child discussed the adaptations of his Jack Reacher novels. He believes that TV series are better suited for these stories than movies because they have more time to fully develop characters and explore their lives. He feels this is especially true for adaptations like the Reacher series, and even suggested that if streaming services had been available earlier, the films starring Tom Cruise wouldn’t have been made – a choice he, as a novelist, would have preferred.
