If it’s 1945, of course the war is ending! It feels a bit obvious to point that out to an audience who are already choosing to watch a show about people in old-fashioned clothes fixing sheep and singing. Maybe it’s for any children who might be watching with their parents, but I doubt anyone is showing their toddlers a documentary about World War II – and I certainly won’t be making that mistake with my own kids. They’ll learn about it eventually.

Okay, so starting with a joke about Epstein was a little risky, I’ll admit. But Nikki Glaser recovered fast by turning her attention to CBS itself. Honestly, that’s exactly what I love about her – she’s fearless. After years of killing it at those Comedy Central roasts, she didn’t hesitate to call CBS News “America’s newest place to see bs.” That’s a seriously bold move when the network is producing the show, but the audience absolutely loved it. She really knows how to read a room.

Her team isn’t performing well, her investors are nervous, and her boss, Sir Otto, has put a junior employee in charge of monitoring her, who expresses his concerns by asking leading questions. Even Harper’s most trusted colleagues—Sweetpea and Kwabena, who joined the show last season—no longer just question her decisions privately; they openly disagree with her.

This win continues Timothée Chalamet’s impressive run, following his victory last week at the Critics Choice Awards where he was favored over Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael B. Jordan. Now that major industry awards and Oscar nominations are coming up, fans of the Safdie brothers are wondering if Chalamet can maintain this momentum or if his streak will end.
