Today, Koei Tecmo and Gust released Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
So, Atelier Resleriana is finally out! Koei Tecmo dropped the launch trailer today, and I’ve been checking everything out. You can grab the standard version, or go all-in with the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate Editions – it’s available on PS5, Switch, and Steam. I’ve put together a breakdown of all the DLC and what each edition includes. Plus, I’ve written up a comparison of how the game runs on PS5 versus Switch (including how it handles on the new Switch 2 with backwards compatibility!), and a deep dive into the PC version, covering all the features and how well it runs on handheld devices.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian is out now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). A PlayStation 4 version is available, but only in Japan.
Koei Tecmo has released a launch trailer for Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, which you can view below for more information.
Koei Tecmo and Gust have released Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game follows Rias and Slade as they work to restore their town and discover its secrets. A new trailer and artwork were also released today to celebrate the launch.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian tells the story of Rias, an alchemist, and Slade, who can open paths to other dimensions. Together, they investigate the mysterious disappearance of everyone in Hallfein, hoping to rebuild their hometown and honor the legacy of loved ones. Along the way, they’ll encounter familiar faces from previous Atelier games, like Sophie, Razeluxe, Totori, and Wilbell.
Set in the world of Atelier Resleriana, the game takes place on the continent of Lantarna. Players will explore a vibrant world, gather ingredients, and uncover secrets, all while utilizing a simple yet deep crafting system. They’ll also delve into ever-changing dungeons called “Dimensional Paths,” where layouts and challenges shift with each visit.
Battles are turn-based and strategic, focusing on managing action points and items to influence the turn order and unleash powerful attacks. Rias can craft items using a unique “Gift Color Synthesis” system, connecting ingredient properties to create new tools and enhancements.
Players can also manage a shop, selling their crafted goods, and contribute to rebuilding Hallfein. By investing earnings into the town’s five districts through the Town Hall, they can help restore it to its former glory.
Alongside the game’s release, the first downloadable content (DLC) is now available: the Gust Extra BGM Pack. Over the next few months, three more DLC packs will be released. First, in November 2025, players can get the “Beginning of Summer Days” costume set, which includes six swimsuits: “Bright Treasure” for Rias, “Ocean Hero” for Slade, “Street Aestus” for Raze, “Beachside Witch” for Wilbell, “Coral Fairy” for Totori, and “Sunset Relaxation” for Sophie.
In December 2025, the “Additional Characters” pack will add Resna and Valeria to the game. Players will need to progress through the story to unlock these characters and their storylines from *Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator*.
Finally, in January 2026, the “The Essence of Alchemy” Recipe Expansion Pack and a challenging new dungeon, “Backwards-Ticking Clock Workshop,” will be released.
Besides the regular game, a Digital Deluxe Edition is available, which includes the base game, costumes for all characters, and a pack of useful items. The Ultimate Edition offers even more – it comes with the Season Pass, a special collaborative costume for Rias and Slade (inspired by Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land), and everything from the Digital Deluxe Edition.
If you buy any version of the game (physical or digital) within the first two weeks of release, you’ll also get the “Activewear Adventuring Set” for Rias and Slade, and the “Adventuring Charm Set” as a bonus.
Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian is now available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. You can enjoy the entire game offline, without needing an internet connection*. Please note the game features Japanese voice acting with English text only, and the PlayStation 4 version will only be available in Japan.
