As an admirer of the dynamic world of entertainment and media, I am thrilled to see such significant changes unfolding within the industry. The rebranding of Asylum Entertainment Group to Pantheon Media Group, under the leadership of Jen O’Connell, marks a new era in non-scripted content production.

2025 marks a fresh start for Asylum Entertainment Group, who will be operating under a new identity and management setup. Our sources reveal that the company, falling under Endeavor’s non-scripted content division, has chosen to rebrand itself as Pantheon Media Group.

At the same time, we’ve got some exciting news: Steve Michaels has stepped into the position of chairman at Pantheon, and Jen O’Connell has been appointed as the new CEO. Jen currently holds the roles of co-founder and co-CEO at Velvet Hammer Media, and she will continue to serve in these positions while also taking on her new role as CEO at our company, alongside Rebecca Quinn who remains her co-CEO at Velvet Hammer Media.

O’Connell can handle multiple roles, as well as increase her supervisory responsibilities, since Velvet Hammer, an enterprise owned by a minority, is part of Endeavor.

Michaels stated, ‘Jen has been a valued friend for quite some time, and she is a highly esteemed executive and businessperson.’ Her background and skills are perfectly suited to what our company requires as we embark on this new phase of expansion. I am certain that with her at the helm, our over twenty unscripted brands will continue to flourish and generate fresh, groundbreaking content.’

2024 proved to be a groundbreaking year for Asylum/Pantheon, as it has been expanding since Endeavor’s investment the previous year. During this period, Asylum/Pantheon made strategic moves such as purchasing shares in live media producers Done+Dusted, forming a partnership with Tyler Perry Studios to develop and produce unscripted content, investing in Ladywell Films (an independent production house run by “Tinder Swindler” filmmakers Bernadette Higgins and Felicity Morris), and acquiring a stake in London-based Dare Entertainment.

The Pantheon Media Group encompasses a variety of production studios specializing in live events, documentaries, factual content, crime dramas, sports, games, entertainment, and other genres. In addition to these, they house Large Eyes Entertainment, Mohawk Puppy, documentary producers Film 45, true crime producers Texas Crew Productions, limited series producer Breaklight Pictures, U.K.-based Soho Studios, and Moon&Back Media. They also have partnerships with Tom Morello’s Comandante Productions and the New York Post. Pantheon’s companies are located in cities worldwide, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Vancouver, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Austin.

In her fresh position, O’Connell is responsible for managing both business and creative aspects within the organization, while Jodi Flynn and Ben Bitonti remain in charge of creative decision-making internally.

As a passionate movie enthusiast reminiscing about my professional journey, let me share that I, being the visionary I am, co-founded Velvet Hammer Media in 2023. This creative powerhouse has been responsible for bringing to life captivating productions such as “Best Bite Wins” and “Empty Nest Refresh”.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed developing Velvet Hammer Media under Endeavor’s brand, collaborating closely with Rebecca Sanhueza and Steve, along with his dedicated, skilled team. Steve has assembled a dynamic collection of international storytellers who consistently produce top-quality unscripted content, and I look forward to working with this diverse group. With the Pantheon Media Group affiliation, I believe Velvet Hammer is poised for continued creative growth in the future.

In 2003, Michaels established Asylum Entertainment as a production company. Six years later, it was sold to Legendary Entertainment. Five years after that, Michaels repurchased the company, and in 2023, Endeavor acquired a stake. Over time, this company transformed into a holding entity for numerous labels, leading to misunderstandings with the original Asylum Entertainment. To avoid confusion, the name was changed to Pantheon.
