ASUS TUF Gaming x Hatsune Miku review – The dream setup for Miku fans?

ASUS and Crypton Future Media have collaborated to create a special PC gaming collection celebrating Hatsune Miku, the famous virtual singer. This limited-edition line features a unique turquoise design, custom keycaps, and exclusive artwork, making it perfect for any Hatsune Miku enthusiast.

This collection features a keyboard, headset, mouse, and mousepad, all designed with a futuristic look inspired by Miku and built with ASUS’s budget-friendly TUF Gaming technology. While the set is visually appealing, fun, and full of personality, the key question is whether it performs as well as it looks.

Keyboard

This keyboard is beautifully designed and perfectly captures the style of the virtual idol who inspired it. It features charming details like mini Mikus on the spacebar and X key, along with design elements and a turquoise color scheme that reflect her iconic hair. Overall, the ASUS TUF Gaming K3 Gen II Hatsune Miku Edition is a visually impressive keyboard.

The keyboard also comes with fun extras like different keycaps, stickers, and a poster – plenty to please any fan.

This keyboard features ASUS’s special optical-mechanical switches, complete with customizable RGB lighting. They’re built to last, withstanding up to 100 million keystrokes, and offer a reliable experience without any lag or accidental double inputs. This is especially beneficial for gamers, particularly those playing fast-paced titles like Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix+, where precise inputs are crucial.

For just $99, this keyboard offers a lot of value, and its resistance to water and dust is a welcome addition, especially if you tend to be clumsy. However, the plastic build quality makes it feel a bit cheap, and while the keys have a typical mechanical feel, they don’t provide the firm, satisfying click you’d get with a higher-end keyboard.

Because this keyboard has a smaller design with 97 keys, the keys are a little closer together. While this won’t bother everyone, fans who usually use standard or smaller keyboards might need a little time to get used to the new layout.

The Hatsune Miku keyboard looks fantastic, but its compact size and plastic construction might not make it ideal as an everyday keyboard for users who do more than just game.

Headphones

Though it doesn’t stand out quite as much as the keyboard, the ASUS TUF Gaming H1 Gen II Hatsune Miku Edition still features the distinctive turquoise color scheme, and even has a small, glowing Miku design on each earcup. It’s light, comfortable to wear, and, above all, really adorable.

Weighing only 297g, this headset remains comfortable even during long work or gaming sessions. The sound is clear and immersive thanks to the 40mm ASUS Essence drivers and virtual 7.1 surround sound. While it excels at delivering realistic environmental audio, bass could be more powerful and impactful for tracks with heavy beats or explosions.

Even though the headphones don’t rotate or offer much adjustment, the earcups fit tightly and blocked sound from leaking out – perfect for quiet late-night gaming. The microphone was adjustable, but ended up very close to my mouth. I like the virtual singer Miku, but not enough to have the mic practically in my mouth!

Okay, so I’m a big Bluetooth headphone person for both gaming and just getting around, and it’s a little disappointing this headset is wired. But honestly, for under $100, it’s really good! It definitely feels like an upgrade from headsets I’ve tried around the $50 mark, like the HyperX Cloud Stinger 2. Just don’t expect it to sound as amazing as those super expensive ones, like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless.

Mouse & Mousepad

The ASUS TUF Gaming Mini Wireless Mouse, featuring Hatsune Miku artwork, is compact yet feels comfortable to hold. It’s lightweight and moves smoothly across your mousepad, making it ideal for fast-paced games like first-person shooters and rhythm games where quick movements are key.

I tested Miku’s mouse while playing Valorant and Fortnite and found it very responsive, whether connected with a cable or Bluetooth. Even though it’s a small mouse, my hand didn’t cramp up, which is great for extended gaming.

The ASUS TUF Gaming Mini Wireless Mouse Hatsune Miku Edition costs around $110, making it more affordable than high-end wireless mice like the Logitech G Pro 2 Lightspeed, which typically sells for $150 to $180. Despite its lower price, it still offers versatile connectivity with options for 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and USB-C connections.

The Logitech G Pro 2 has a top-of-the-line sensor and is built for professional gamers, but for everyday use, the ASUS Miku mouse offers a very smooth and responsive experience, plus it looks much more appealing.

The Hatsune Miku TUF Gaming mousepad completes the vibrant setup. Miku is playfully waving from the left side of the pad, adding a cheerful touch. Her name is featured right in front of her, leaving no question about this official collaboration.

Although it’s tempting to leave it uncovered, the mousepad is actually designed to be durable. It measures 260 x 360 mm and has a high-quality cloth surface for precise mouse movements. A special water-resistant coating helps it withstand a lot of use, and the stitched edges are smooth and firm – unlike cheaper pads that can feel rough or unravel. These stitched edges also prevent fraying, keeping the pad looking good for longer.

Verdict

The ASUS and Hatsune Miku collaboration is both fashionable and full of character, capturing Miku’s style in a way that feels authentic, not just like a novelty item. Despite its compact size, the keyboard works great, the headphones are well-made, and the mouse delivers quick and accurate performance that rivals more expensive options.

This collection offers a complete, attractive setup that’s comfortable to use and reasonably priced for everything you get. While not perfect, it’s a great value at around $300, successfully blending features fans will love with practical usability. If you’re a Miku fan looking to show your enthusiasm, this set is definitely worth having on your desk.
