In a few days, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is set to expand with its first significant addition, titled The Claws of Awaji DLC. This exciting new adventure for Naoe and Yasuke will become available on September 16 at 05:00 AM Pacific Time, 08:00 AM Eastern Time, 12:00 PM Coordinated Universal Time, and 09:00 PM Japanese Standard Time. To help players get ready for this new chapter, Ubisoft has prepared an informative overview filled with essential details.
Players will be whisked away to the enigmatic island of Awaji, home to a new faction named Sanzoku Ippa. In their quest, heroes will search for a long-lost artifact. Ubisoft guarantees approximately 10 hours of fresh storyline, brimming with surprise ambushes, intricate traps, and intense battles.
The most important new elements of the expansion are:
- region – Awaji Island;
- weapon – bo staff (also available in a free quest for everyone);
- unique armors, weapons and legendary versions with engravings;
- additional skills and abilities for Naoe and Yasuke;
- side activities and rewards.
To embark on the journey, players initially need to wrap up the primary story arcs of Naoe and Yasuke, along with the “Out of the Shadows” mission. Upon fulfilling these tasks, Hanzo’s ally will emerge in the Settsu hideout, guiding our heroes towards the expansion.
The developers want to make it clear that the expansion can be purchased across all platforms at a price of $25. Those who have already pre-ordered the game will get the DLC for free.
Update 1.1.1 – finally concrete information
Not only was it significant that developers finally voiced their long-awaited news, but in their July announcement, they pledged to release a patch by early September. And sure enough, the 1.1.1 update is now accessible for download.
Here are the new features introduced to the game with the 1.1.1 update:
- “Go with the Bo” free story mission – meeting with the bo master, unlocking a new weapon for Naoe;
- raising the maximum level to 100 – more character development options;
- expansion of the hideout – 20 new building upgrades and 3 additional base levels;
- time change – the ability to meditate and fast-forward the time of day by 6 hours;
- scouts and map – revealing hideouts and clearing the map from fog after synchronizing the viewpoint;
- new equipment qualities – further gear upgrades;
- “Sanctuary” project in the center of Animus – equipment inspired by the adventures of Ezio Auditore da Firenze and additional rewards;
- anomalies available on Awaji Island (for the DLC owners).
Beyond what’s already mentioned, the update addresses numerous issues. These range from scenes where the game crashes, difficulties with character animations, and skills that don’t function properly or an imbalance in Nightmare mode, being rectified as well.
Users of individual platforms should prepare for a quite large file to download:
- PS5 – 12.94 GB;
- Xbox Series X/S – 33 GB;
- Mac – 24 GB;
- Steam – 17 GB;
- PC (Ubisoft Connect) – 42 GB.
