Everyone expected Assassin’s Creed Shadows to come to the Switch 2, and recent leaks pointed to a December 5th release. It turns out the game will actually launch on December 2nd. Ubisoft and Nintendo have officially confirmed the date and released a trailer showing the game on the new console.
Despite talk that the new Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows might cost $70 like other consoles, it will actually sell for $60. You’ll be able to buy it as a physical game card, but if you buy it directly from the Nintendo eShop, it will be a digital download. A more expensive, premium edition will also be available for $100, but only as a digital purchase.
When the game launches on the Switch 2, it will include all updates released so far, except for the ‘Claws of Awaji’ expansion, which will be available in 2026. Players on Switch 2 will be able to continue their progress on other platforms thanks to Ubisoft Connect.
Game director Charles Benoit announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming to Nintendo players. He explained that players can experience feudal Japan on the Nintendo Switch 2, whether they prefer a stealthy approach as Naoe or direct combat as Yasuke, allowing them to play at home or on the go.
A recent update to the game Shadows included a cat costumed as Ezio, a popular character from the Assassin’s Creed series. Ubisoft was also reportedly working on a new Assassin’s Creed game set during the American Civil War and Reconstruction, but the project was scrapped due to concerns about its potentially controversial themes.
