Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Remake May Reportedly Launch Sooner Than You Think

According to a recent report, the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is expected to be released before the end of March 2026.

News emerged after Ubisoft released its financial report (following a short delay to complete end-of-year procedures, according to CFO Frederick Duguet) that an unannounced game is planned for release before March 31, 2026. Both Insider Gaming and Eurogamer report that this game is a remake of Black Flag, and is currently slated to launch the week of March 23rd.

Although Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed anything, details about the new Assassin’s Creed game have been appearing online since leaks surfaced in June 2023. Recent hints, including a potential confirmation during a March 2025 livestream and comments from voice actor Matt Ryan in June 2025, suggest the game is real. Rumors indicate the game will focus entirely on the historical story, without the modern-day segments seen in previous titles. If the leaks are accurate, an official announcement from Ubisoft is likely coming soon.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is a standout title in the Assassin’s Creed series. Players take on the role of Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Connor Kenway from Assassin’s Creed III, and experience his transformation from a pirate focused on raiding and looting to a fighter battling the Templar Order. His quest to find the Observatory leads him through thrilling sea battles and sword fights, and ultimately reveals hidden truths about both his pirate life and his family’s history as Assassins.

Ubisoft reports that the latest Assassin’s Creed game, Shadows, is performing well. Even after a delay caused by initial feedback regarding the character Yasuke, the game has continued to receive updates since its release in March. A new expansion, Claws of Awaji, launched in September, adding story content and weapons for both main characters, Naoe and Yasuke. A recent update also included improved parkour mechanics for smoother movement. Ubisoft says the entire Assassin’s Creed series has been more successful than they anticipated.
