Austin Wintory, the composer known for his work on games like Assassin’s Creed and Journey, offered congratulations to this year’s Grammy nominees, including himself. However, he also expressed disappointment that his score for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wasn’t selected as a nominee.
Composer Austin Wintory shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he was grateful for his Sword of the Sea score being nominated for a Grammy in 2026. However, he was also disappointed that his other work, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, didn’t receive a nomination.
He expressed disappointment that none of them were selected for Expedition 33, saying he’d gladly take someone’s place if he could, as earning that spot truly meant deserving it.
Clair Obscur misses out on 2026 Grammy list
The nominees for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media this year are Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – Secrets of the Spires, Helldivers 2, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Star Wars Outlaws: Wild Card & A Pirate’s Fortune, and Sword of the Sea.
So thrilled that ‘Sword of the Sea’ is nominated for a Grammy in ’26! Huge thanks to the Recording Academy and a big congratulations to Wilbert Roget on his two nominations! I’m a little disappointed ‘Expedition 33’ wasn’t recognized, though – I truly believe that score deserved a nomination.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the game Sandfall Interactive made. Everyone’s been raving about how unique it looks and the amazing orchestral music Lorien Testard composed for it. It really stood out when it came out earlier this year.
Although Sandfall’s popular song wasn’t nominated for a Grammy, it’s expected to be a strong contender at The Game Awards 2025. According to the event’s website, nominees will be revealed around mid-November.
