Assassin’s Creed Actor Has Blunt Message About That Reportedly Canceled Game

Ralph Ineson, known for voicing the pirate Charles Vane in the video game Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, has shared his thoughts on the news that Ubisoft apparently decided not to make an Assassin’s Creed game set during the American Civil War.

He said on social media, “Once again, f**k off.”

According to a report from Game File, a video game set during the American Civil War and Reconstruction era was canceled due to its sensitive subject matter. The game would have featured a Black protagonist who, after escaping slavery, joined the Assassins and returned to the South to fight against groups like the Ku Klux Klan.

Okay, so before Assassin’s Creed III, people always wondered if we’d ever get a game set in North America. Well, we did! ACIII was awesome, taking place during the American Revolution in cities like Boston and New York, and out in the frontier. It wasn’t without its drama though. The DLC, ‘The Tyranny of King Washington,’ was pretty wild – it basically threw us into an alternate reality where George Washington decided to become a king, and that caused a lot of talk amongst players.

Mark Ineson is a highly experienced English actor who has worked on over 150 projects. He recently portrayed Galactus in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ and is well-known for appearances in popular shows like ‘The Office,’ ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Chernobyl,’ and films such as ‘The Witch’ and ‘The Green Knight.’ He’s also lent his voice to several video games, including ‘Black Flag,’ ‘Diablo IV,’ and ‘Final Fantasy XVI’.

A remake of Black Flag is reportedly in the works now and set for release in 2026.
