Just days before a major gaming event, details about a possible remake of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag have surfaced online. A rating appeared on the PEGI website, shared by Knoebel on BlueSky, though the listing is currently unavailable. While it’s unlikely Ubisoft caused the website issue, they recently warned a voice actor about discussing the remake. Ubisoft has faced challenges this year, restructuring popular franchises like Assassin’s Creed under a new partnership with Tencent. However, with this new information, it seems increasingly likely that the long-awaited remake will be officially revealed at this week’s Game Awards.
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake may be revealed soon; a potential PEGI rating has been spotted
A recent screenshot suggests Ubisoft is being creative with the title of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake. It seems they’re calling it “Resynced,” likely a nod to the Animus – the in-game VR device that lets players experience their ancestors’ memories through DNA. It’s worth noting that the lines between “remaster” and “remake” have become blurred with recent game re-releases, so we’ll probably need an official announcement to know exactly what to expect. However, the game has been given an 18 rating by PEGI, meaning it’s intended for mature players – the same rating as the original game.

If you’ve forgotten, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is famous for adding ship-to-ship battles to the Assassin’s Creed series. The game follows Edward Kenway, a pirate who also works as an assassin. Released in 2013, we called it the best pirate game ever, and it still holds up today. Ubisoft’s other pirate game, Skull and Bones, wasn’t nearly as successful.
With The Game Awards happening this Thursday, it seems like the ideal time to officially reveal this long-rumored remake. After years of speculation, it would actually be surprising if we didn’t hear something about it. We’ll just have to wait a few more days to find out for sure.
