Asmongold is criticizing shroud because shroud asked his viewers to vote for ARC Raiders as Game of the Year instead of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, even though he hasn’t played Clair Obscur himself.
The 2025 Game Awards are nearly here, and popular Twitch streamer Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek is strongly advocating for ARC Raiders to win an award.
During a live stream, shroud urged his fans to help his game win Game of the Year, emphasizing that they shouldn’t let another game, Expedition, take the prize.
We need to work together to improve this game. As multiplayer players, we’re a smaller group, but I think we can make a difference.
Popular streamer Asmongold was upset by shroud’s comments, particularly after finding out shroud hadn’t actually played Expedition 33.
Asmongold blasts shroud over Game of the Year debate
While watching a clip of shroud discussing Game of the Year contenders on his stream, Asmon was surprised to discover that shroud hadn’t actually played Expedition 33, according to his Steam profile.
Asmongold exclaimed angrily, “Are you serious? You didn’t even try playing it! It’s a first-person shooter—you can just aim and shoot. He would have really enjoyed that!”
The 35-year-old also criticized shroud for saying that most gamers don’t play multiplayer games, and challenged him to try Expedition 33 to see if his claim was incorrect.
Asmongold expressed strong dissatisfaction with Shroud’s recent performance in Expedition 33, arguing that the game no longer deserves its ‘Game of the Year’ title and that Arc Raiders should take its place. He then transitioned the conversation to discuss his upcoming ‘Shame Awards’ show, which he’s co-hosting with Adin Ross.

The only path to victory is by playing what is easily the best game released in a long time. This is how shroud can win.
Asmon praised ARC Raiders, but believes Expedition 33 is on another level, describing it as a truly exceptional and groundbreaking game.
People will still be talking about how great Expedition 33 is in twenty years, but ARC Raiders will likely be forgotten. That’s just how it is. Expedition 33 is a solid, lasting experience, while ARC Raiders feels temporary – like a sandcastle that will be washed away by the next big game release.
Although Asmongold and shroud disagreed on which game deserved Game of the Year, they both believed the awards were unfair. Shroud had actually said the awards were “rigged” back in 2024 if Black Myth: Wukong didn’t win, a sentiment Asmongold shared.
Shroud has never played Expedition 33

Shroud recently said that while he hasn’t tried playing Expedition 33 yet, he’ll give it a shot if it wins Game of the Year.
Currently, shroud still prefers playing ARC Raiders, despite recent accusations that he’s been cheating at the game.
