Asmongold reveals why he’s never signed a streaming contract — and wouldn’t for $1 billion

Since the beginning of his streaming career, Asmongold has been broadcasting on Twitch. Initially, he streamed on his primary account; however, after the passing of his mother in 2021, he primarily shifted to his secondary channel, Zackrawrr.

The account hadn’t been making any money through streaming for three years straight. That was until December 2024, when he announced that he had finally started earning from it – this change came about after he mentioned Twitch had offered him partnership status, saying they were losing funds by running his channel.

Currently, on his Twitch broadcast on the 14th of February, he elaborated upon the reasons behind his decision not to sign a streaming contract, which contrasts with many others who have chosen to do so.

Asmongold explains why he “never pursued” streaming contract

According to Asmongold, “Many individuals, among whom you might not be aware, had contracts. Some friends of mine had agreements that didn’t explicitly state certain details because, well, these matters can get quite intricate. However, these contracts were never intentionally misleading or deceptive; it’s just that they weren’t disclosed publicly.

I’ve declined entering into contracts related to streaming because I dislike feeling tied down to a commitment. To me, personal freedom is paramount and no amount of money could make me compromise on that.

What mattered most to me was the ability to make my own choices – to act or not act as I wish, to speak or remain silent when I choose. This freedom meant more to me than any amount of money, and it was this reason that led me to decline the contract and refuse to do it. The ads were also a factor.

Asmongold discusses his reasons for never signing a Twitch contract like many of his peers, while also expressing his contentment with not needing such an agreement now or in the future. In his words: “Many of my friends got contracts, but freedom in my life is what matters most and there’s no price tag high enough to compensate for that.

When inquired if he’d perform the task for a billion dollars, he answered, “I don’t require a billion dollars; what purpose would a billion dollars serve for me?

The streamer commented, “How would that affect my lifestyle? Not much, I suppose I might put the funds into new ventures. That sounds intriguing, but I’m already utilizing my influence and knowledge to do so. Still, it’s an idea worth considering.

In the year 2023, Asmongold spoke about rumors that he might switch from Twitch to Kick after the high-profile $100 million xQc agreement. However, he clarified that he wouldn’t sign an exclusive deal for another platform and has continued to remain on Twitch since then.

In 2021, the streamer disclosed that Twitch declined his proposal for a deal, explaining that “no personalized contract was extended to me” – this was when he was reportedly seeking such an agreement.
