Asmongold accuses Elon Musk of account sharing to make people think he’s a “real gamer”

In Path of Exile 2, Asmongold alleged that Elon Musk shared an account for the purpose of giving the impression that he is a dedicated “gamer.

On January 8th, experienced PoE 2 streamer Quin69 watched videos of Elon Musk playing the ARPG, and found it entertaining to notice that Musk seemed a bit unaccustomed to certain aspects of the game’s mechanisms.

Quin stated that “It’s clear another person manages his account entirely. He only signs in occasionally to complete a map. This is the reason behind the tab labeled ‘Elon’s Map,’ and why he’s unaware of how to turn on the Atlas.

On January 10th, Asmongold entered the discussion. Before viewing Quin’s video, a popular Path of Exile content creator who had already reacted to it, Kripparian, had done so as well.

Or more concisely:
As of January 10th, Asmongold joined the chat after watching Quin’s video, which had previously been reacted to by Kripparian.

Both versions maintain the original meaning but aim for a natural and easy-to-read language style.

He absolutely didn’t play that account himself. I apologize, but I’m nearly certain he either purchased it or someone else controlled it for him, with complete confidence.

Following their discussion, Asmon mentioned Diablo 4 – another action role-playing game that Elon Musk is recognized for playing.

I find it amusing on two levels – first, it seems he might be pretending to play Diablo 4, but what really tickles me is his apparent lack of skill in Path of Exile. With Diablo, people couldn’t tell if he was a novice or a pro because it was so simple. They’d ask themselves, ‘Is this guy a newbie or the top player? I can’t tell.’

Regarding Path of Exile 2, Asmon firmly stated that Elon Musk has been using shared accounts. He expressed his opinion by saying, “I believe he’s sharing accounts, without a doubt. Attempting to make someone else play your account and present yourself as a genuine gamer is preposterous. It’s cringe-worthy. Extremely unbecoming.

In a livestream on December 29, 2024, Asmongold, who initially gained fame through his World of Warcraft content on Twitch and YouTube, shared his reasons for stepping away from the MMO.
