As a dedicated fan who has followed Kohei Horikoshi’s incredible journey since the inception of My Hero Academia, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and awe at his upcoming projects. The man is nothing short of a manga-making machine! Despite the monumental task of concluding one of the most popular series in recent years, he’s already dabbling in new ideas, preparing to surprise us once again.
By August 2024, the latest installment of My Hero Academia was out, and the final manga volume was set for release in December 2024. With those milestones behind him, creator Kohei Horikoshi now has time to embark on a fresh venture. Admittedly, he’s already dabbling with ideas for this new project, sketching out initial concepts for a story that promises to delight fans. However, we may have to be patient and wait a while longer for it to unfold.
Lately, Marvel teamed up with Weekly Shonen Jump, focusing on the finale of My Hero Academia. On this special event, Horikoshi didn’t just create fresh artwork but also shared some insights into his upcoming plans. He mentioned that he’s not retiring from drawing and is actively working on a new project.
I’m incredibly grateful for the triumph of MHA, which has brought on quite a bit of pressure regarding my future steps. As soon as I find the right moment, I intend to launch a fresh comic series.
Initially, I was considering handing over both the storytelling and illustration for my upcoming project, but my editor suggested that it would work best if I handle everything myself. Taking his advice into account, I’ve begun writing and sketching the initial drafts of my next manga. Although there are still some unresolved events in MHA, for now, I remain dedicated to continuing its development and promotion.
Horikoshi is eager to jump right into creating a new manga, but first, he must attend to all his commitments related to My Hero Academia, as there are still some key storylines left to be resolved, such as the manga’s conclusion and the ongoing anime.
As a devoted fan, I’ve pondered the possibility of another author collaborating with Horikoshi on his next masterpiece, but it appears he’s chosen to listen to his publisher and tackle this new manga series solo. Unfortunately, we’re left guessing about the storyline and release date until Horikoshi is ready to reveal more details. Patience, fellow fans, is the key here!
