Artists Equity Appoints Dillon West as COO, Adds Andrew Gumpert as President of Business Affairs & Strategy

The studio known as Artists Equity, co-founded by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, declared today that it has promoted Dillon West to the position of chief operating officer. Additionally, they have introduced Andrew Gumpert to a brand new role, president for business affairs and strategy. Michael Joe, who previously served as COO at Artists Equity, will move into a strategic advisory role, having started the studio with Affleck and Damon. He will continue to be part of the board of directors.

Previously, West held the position of Chief Strategy Officer at Artist Equity. He will still be a member of the company’s board of directors in the future. Prior to joining Artist Equity, West was involved in media and entertainment investments at RedBird Capital Partners. The CEO of RedBird Capital, Gerald Cardinale, is one of the co-founders of Artist Equity, along with Damon and Affleck.

Having accumulated over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Gumpert held the position of COO at Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Studios, managing business operations, strategic planning, distribution of home entertainment, and TV licensing agreements. Prior to this, he served as the president of worldwide business affairs and operations for Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group. Gumpert’s career started as a litigator at Hill, Wynne, Troop, and Meisinger in Los Angeles.

Recently, Artists Equity unveiled director Bill Condon’s “The Kiss of the Spider Woman,” featuring Jennifer Lopez and Diego Luna, at the Sundance Film Festival. They also released “Unstoppable” starring Lopez on Amazon MGM earlier this month. In the future, Artists Equity plans to present “The Accountant 2” for Amazon MGM, a sequel featuring returning director Gavin O’Connor and writers Bill Dubuque, with Ben Affleck, Jon Bernthal, and J.K. Simmons reprising their roles.

Artist Equity maintains ongoing promotional collaborations with several companies, such as Dunkin’ Donuts. In fact, they teamed up with Dunkin’ to create not one but two Super Bowl commercials and an ad for the Grammys. It was Affleck who oversaw and directed the production of the Dunkin’ campaign.
