Arsenal star refuses to sign Premier League winners badge because he doesn’t want to jinx it

Arsenal is currently expected to win the Premier League, but defender Riccardo Calafiori refused to sign anything with a champions badge on it, worried it might bring bad luck to the team.

Arsenal is nine points ahead of Manchester City with only seven league games left to play. However, Manchester City has played one fewer game than Arsenal.

While it would be a major upset for Arsenal to lose their current advantage, Calafiori is still playing with intense focus and isn’t assuming victory is guaranteed.

Fan asks Calafiori to sign PL winner’s badge early

A TikTok video shows Calafiori getting asked for an autograph. He started to sign, but then noticed what he was being asked to sign on.

A fan showed off some iron-on patches featuring the Premier League trophy – the kind people put on jerseys to mark a championship win.

Calafiori refused to sign the badges, saying: “This one, no. I won’t sign that. We didn’t win yet.”

The fan urged the player to sign, excitedly saying, “Come on, we’re going to win! Please sign!”

Okay, so this is kinda weird. I saw that Riccardo Calafiori wouldn’t sign a Premier League champion badge when a fan asked. Apparently, he’s superstitious! It’s a really odd request to begin with, honestly, but I get being superstitious – I wouldn’t want to jinx anything either!

The Italian defender has a good reason for refusing to sign – he’s superstitious and believes signing the request would be inviting bad luck, as it seems to assume success before it happens.

Even if the autograph were to fade with heat from a patch celebrating an Arsenal league win, the fan isn’t worried. He plans to simply wait for the title celebrations and ask Calafiori for another signature then.
