Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez Sent Each Other Voice Messages After Earning Golden Globe Noms: ‘It Was the Sweetest Note’

As a longtime admirer of both Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez, seeing these two powerhouse women supporting each other at the Academy Women’s Luncheon filled me with nothing but pure joy! Both Ariana and Selena have had incredible careers that started at such young ages, making them relatable role models for so many.

Ariana Grande really wants to get to know Selena Gomez more.

I was so eager to meet “Emilia Pérez” that I requested the opportunity to sit beside her during the Academy Women’s Luncheon held at the Academy Museum on Tuesday.

The ‘Wicked’ actress shared with me how deeply she admires and cherishes another person,” he said. “Seeing us both on the same list brought me immense joy. It was truly a unique and meaningful experience.

The list you’re looking at includes the nominees for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Felicity Jones (“The Brutalist”), Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”), Isabella Rossellini (“Conclave”), and Zoe Saldaña (“Emilia Pérez”) are all on this list.

Ariana Grande was among the first to reach out to Gomez following the nominations announced on Monday. She texted me an incredibly kind message around 6 in the morning, Gomez shared with me, mentioning that she also received a message from her partner, Benny Blanco, at approximately the same time. The two exchanged voice messages, and it was quite an exciting moment for them both.

Grande expressed her joy at witnessing Selena’s special moment, saying, ‘I deeply appreciate seeing this, as I understand her dedication and patience. It mirrors my own experiences, so I know the emotion she feels. Why not take the opportunity to congratulate my industry friends when I can?

Both actresses were initially known as child stars. Gomez made her debut on “Barney” and later became famous for her role in “Wizards of Waverly Place” on the Disney Channel. Grande’s acting career began when she played Cat Valentine on “Victorious,” a show produced by Nickelodeon.

Grande expressed, “I’d like to know Selena better than I currently do, so I’m thrilled to be seated next to her today.

The Chanel-hosted luncheon saw Gomez delivering a keynote speech, where she spoke about the collaborative spirit experienced on the set of “Emilia Pérez,” directed by Jacques Audiard. This collaboration, she explained, echoed the strength of community – the act of supporting and uplifting one another. Regardless of whether it’s in film, music or daily life, Gomez emphasized that community is the cornerstone of her work.

At times, this field can make you feel quite isolated,” Gomez admitted, “but instances such as these, gathered here with so many remarkable women like Ariana Grande,” – she indicated towards Grande – “serve to remind me that I’m not facing it all on my own.

Additionally, at the gathering, there were stars such as Pamela Anderson, Gal Gadot, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Amy Adams, Ava DuVernay, Joan Chen, Pam Abdy, Awkwafina, Gia Coppola, Ruth E. Carter, Diane Warren, Rita Wilson, Olivia Wilde, Rachel Morrison, Eve Hewson, June Squibb, Laura Karpman, Sara Foster, Erin Foster, and the Academy’s president, Janet Yang.

Currently, Gomez is pondering over the idea of additional musical projects following Emilia Pérez’s mention. Yet, she maintains that she feels she lacks the necessary experience for Broadway at this point. One production she particularly admires is ‘Chicago’.

When inquired about whether she leans more towards Roxy Hart or Velma Kelly, Gomez promptly grinned and replied, “Without a doubt, I’m a Roxy.

She laughed, “Let’s not start rumors! I’m too busy right now.”

Beyond her Golden Globe nod for “Emilia,” Gomez also received another nomination for her role in “Only Murders in the Building.” She commented on her co-star, Meryl Streep, not receiving an anticipated nomination. “I’m disappointed, but I think she’s such a paragon of greatness in her life that she doesn’t require validation,” Gomez expressed. “She is Meryl Streep.
