Season nine of Love Is Blind was unprecedented – no couples got married. But Megan Walerius and Jordan Keltner stood out even further, as the only pair who didn’t even make it to their wedding. In the season finale, Megan ended things with Jordan before they could say “I do,” explaining that their lifestyles were too different. She described him as a down-to-earth guy with simple tastes, while she, known as “Sparkle Megan,” lives a much more extravagant life. His habit of drinking chicken smoothies definitely didn’t fit her image, but that’s another story.
The couple experienced some friction early on in the competition. While in Baja, Walerius found Keltner irritating at a group event. Back in Denver, she wished he would open up more about his job or simply talk more to avoid awkward silences. Keltner, on the other hand, felt Walerius could be harsh in her communication and wished she was more considerate of his work commitments and need for rest.
Unlike one of the women on Love Island, Keltner was always open about being a father – he readily shared stories about his son, Luca, who has the same diabetes that Walerius’s father had. However, Walerius admitted she didn’t fully grasp the commitments that come with dating someone with a child. She wanted a partner with more free time for activities, and confessed she wondered if she was too focused on her own life to become a mother. (Recent photos suggest she’s now comfortable with the idea of a child being around, though.) Keltner believed money was a factor, suggesting Walerius would have chosen him if he had more disposable income for dates and activities – and he later regretted letting her meet Luca.
During a recent podcast interview with Love Is Blind’s AD Smith, Luca Keltner hinted that his ex-fiancée, Walerius, wished he had more time for her, especially since he was busy juggling parenthood and a demanding job. He didn’t share specifics about his work, but he was happy to discuss his new book, Dear Luca, a children’s book he co-authored. Keltner hopes the book will help children develop emotional intelligence and encourage meaningful conversations between parents and kids. He joked that if the book does well, he might reach the same financial level as Walerius’s previous partners. Even before the show’s finale, Keltner spoke positively about Walerius, saying they worked incredibly well together as a team and that she helped him open up emotionally in a way no one else had. This sets the bar high for anyone hoping to become Luca’s future stepmother.
