Activision Blizzard is facing a challenge with the upcoming release of the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Fans aren’t very excited about it, with some even saying it feels like a mobile game and expressing more interest in Battlefield 6. But it’s not the only shooter coming out this fall. ARC Raiders, developed by Embark Studio – a team of former EA Dice employees who also created the successful game The Finals – is also on the horizon. Originally planned as a free-to-play game, ARC Raiders will now be a paid title. Let’s explore the reasons behind this change and find out how much it will cost.
ARC Raiders becoming premium title. What is the new price?
Wow, 2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year for games! I’m really excited to see how the mid-range, or ‘AA’, games are getting more and more popular. That new jRPG, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, looks incredible, and it feels like we’re seeing a ton of variety. I’ve been following ARC Raiders, the extraction shooter from Embark Studios, and it’s interesting – they originally planned it as free-to-play like The Finals, but now it looks like you’ll actually have to *buy* the game upfront.
The developers recently announced a change in plans for ARC Raiders. It will now be a paid game, priced reasonably given that it’s not a large-scale, AAA title. The game will cost $40, which is similar to the price of other games of its kind.
Embark says this change will help them create a more enjoyable and well-rounded action-survival game. Although some players may disagree with this decision, it suggests a new approach to how the game makes money. This shift could mean the developers won’t need to use unfair microtransactions that affect gameplay, and will instead focus on selling cosmetic items only.
Just a heads-up that ARC Raiders is launching on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5, and will also be playable on GeForce Now. After a few setbacks, the release date is now set for October 30, 2025. The game focuses on player-versus-player-versus-environment gameplay, so there won’t be a single-player campaign. If you’re looking for teammates, you can find a squad on the official ARC Raiders Discord server. Enjoy!
