A player of the game Arc Raiders found help when they needed it, but it didn’t come from within the game itself. Instead, a neighbor heard their calls and literally came knocking – and kicking – on their door to check on them.
It happens to everyone: we all get really caught up in what we’re doing sometimes. Whether you’re lost in a good story by yourself or having a wild time with others, you’re bound to let out a yell every now and then.
Arc Raiders is a game built around teamwork, so expect a lot of shouting! What else would you do when someone unexpectedly lets you down, or a powerful enemy starts causing trouble?
As NICKMERCS discovered last year, asking for help while playing video games can sometimes lead to unexpected consequences. One player was shocked when a neighbor, hearing their calls for help, actually started trying to break down their door.
Concerned neighbor kicks door of Arc Raiders player
On January 3, 2026, a Ring doorbell camera captured a Reddit user named ‘dreamthorp’ becoming very immersed while playing the game Arc Raiders.
After shouting for help for about thirty seconds, hoping someone would assist, a neighbor unexpectedly came out of the apartment building.
The neighbor knocked, worried about the man inside, and called out to ask if he was okay. Instead of a response, they heard a cry for help: “Help me! Somebody help me!”
The neighbor immediately started pounding on the door. “I was incredibly startled when I saw the door buckle inward, it looked like something was about to explode,” said the Arc Raiders player.

It turned out the player wasn’t at home; they were looking after a friend’s house. They’re used to making noise at their own place, but didn’t realize how much sound travels in a smaller apartment building.
During a late-game raid on the Dam Battlegrounds map, the player was attempting to escape when an enemy suddenly dropped in and knocked them down. With the escape window about to close, they desperately yelled for help over their microphone. Surprisingly, the first person to respond was another player right next door.
The next day, the landlord texted a funny story about their friend having a run-in with the neighbor.
The player said they didn’t realize how loud they were being in the group chat. They apologized, saying they’d try to be quieter. The other person responded that everything was okay, and they were just checking to make sure the player was safe.
After what happened, the player gave the neighbor who helped out some beers. He found out the neighbor was a firefighter, and it was just his instinct to break down the door to help.
