ARC Raiders has challenging AI enemies that can quickly defeat players, but the community is asking the developers, Embark, to avoid making them weaker before the game officially releases.
The recent Server Slam test gave many players their first chance to experience ARC Raiders before its release on October 30th. It quickly became one of the most popular games on Steam and generated a lot of excitement, building even more anticipation for the launch.
Players spent more time discussing the AI enemies during the free weekend than the player-versus-player combat. These ARC robots proved surprisingly difficult, often presenting a greater challenge than in earlier test phases. They weren’t just easy targets; they really put up a fight!
Although some streamers found this challenging, the majority are actually asking the developers to leave it as is.
ARC Raiders players beg devs not to nerf difficult enemies
After the Server Slam event finished on October 19th, some players shared concerns online about the ARC’s potential damage and survivability. However, a lot of fans are now urging Embark Studios to ignore those criticisms.
I’ve been seeing a ton of streamers and YouTubers saying the Arc robots are way too hard and need to be toned down. One Redditor put it perfectly: if the developers start nerfing them just because they’re challenging, the game will just become another run-of-the-mill extraction PvP shooter, and that’d be a real shame.
These elements can completely change the outcome of player-versus-player battles and heavily influence how people play the game. They’re challenging enough that players will go out of their way to avoid them, even changing their paths. Removing these aspects would diminish what makes the game special.
Many others felt the same way, with one commenter encouraging Embark not to give in, insisting that “ARC Raiders is already great.”
You know, I really appreciate that this game doesn’t baby you. It’s actually challenging, and that’s what I love about it! Every fight feels important, and when you finally succeed, it feels *so* rewarding. I get that some people might be frustrated at first, but I think the players who stick with it and understand what the game is going for are going to be the ones who really make it special and keep it going strong for years to come.
Many others agreed, noting that sometimes challenging gameplay makes ARC Raiders different and more interesting, as enemies controlled by the game’s AI aren’t typically very difficult.
One player expressed excitement about a game where the ‘E’ ability feels impactful and can change the course of a battle. They particularly like the concept of a large number of drones potentially ending a fight, forcing both teams to either disengage or restart the conflict.
The Server Slam test gave players a first look at some of the enemies they’ll face, including flying Hornets and the massive Queen, but there are plenty more creatures to discover when the game officially launches on October 30th.
