The recent Shrouded Sky update for Arc Raiders significantly reduced the effectiveness of Wolfpack grenades, a popular choice for defeating tough enemies, and this change has caused disagreement among players.
These powerful explosives can be thrown and will automatically target the closest dangerous enemy. They break apart mid-air into several smaller grenades, causing massive damage to either large groups of enemies or a single, powerful one. They quickly became the most effective way to defeat tough enemies like Leapers, Matriarchs, and The Queen.
Once you learned the Blueprint, making the items was simple because the necessary materials were readily available. Because of this, players attempting to obtain a Project often started runs with a large supply of Wolfpacks, confident they could quickly restock if used.
New Arc Raiders update nerfs Wolfpack grenades
The recent update has changed how you get Wolfpacks. Now, you need a Driver from the Rocketeer enemy to craft them – surprisingly, these are the same enemies players used to throw grenades at! This makes Wolfpacks harder to obtain, even if you already have the crafting Blueprint.
Honestly, the reaction to this news from the Arc Raiders community has been pretty split. Some people are saying it’s a crazy change, and I can see why! A lot of us feel like it’s created a weird situation where you need to join a Wolfpack just to get the resources to build a Wolfpack in the first place. It feels a bit circular, you know?
One player expressed strong frustration on X, stating the game’s design felt illogical. They pointed out that defeating a single enemy ‘rocketeer’ requires eliminating two ‘Wolfpack’ units, yet finding a ‘rocketeer’ to drive only yields one. This led them to question the reasoning behind needing to defeat two enemies to take down just one.
Let’s nerf wolfpacks

Some players felt that crafting wolfpacks was too simple and made the game too easy, as one Reddit user explained.
Another player said that once they unlocked the blueprint for Wolfpacks, they could easily defeat the large Arcs. They described simply throwing the Wolfpacks in the enemy’s direction, without needing precise aim or much skill, and the Arcs would be quickly destroyed.
Before the update, it was too easy to create Wolfpacks, which made the game’s hardest challenges surprisingly simple. Because players have been talking about the recent changes a lot, the developers might adjust the Wolfpack requirements again in a future update.
