Arc Raiders has been dealing with cheaters, but the game’s developer, Embark Studios, is now taking a firm stance. They’re not only banning cheaters, but also anyone helping them avoid detection, making it much harder to cheat in the game.
Arc Raiders has faced ongoing issues with players using cheats since its initial testing phases. These cheats, ranging from seeing through walls to automatically aiming, and even duplicating resources, have consistently ruined matches and made the game’s challenges feel unfair. The developers at Embark have recognized this problem and have been consistently releasing updates to combat it.
We’ve been working hard to combat cheating with improvements to our systems, quicker bans, careful investigations, and better ways to identify players who repeatedly break the rules. However, some cheaters have still managed to avoid suspensions by creating new accounts and immediately returning to the game.
Embark Studios is strengthening its anti-cheat measures, and a previously exploited loophole is now being shut down. The new system doesn’t just punish the cheater; anyone sharing their Steam account will also face consequences.
Embark Studios extends bans across Steam Family Sharing
Embark Studios announced on Discord that players who are banned from Arc Raiders will no longer be able to play the game through shared Steam accounts. This change aims to create a fairer gaming experience for everyone.
The team discovered the system had been misused for several months. Previously, users with suspended accounts could bypass those suspensions using Steam Family Sharing, allowing them to return and continue playing unfairly on Speranza.
This update makes sure that when an account is suspended, any linked accounts sharing through Steam Family Sharing are also suspended automatically.

As a Steam user, I really appreciate Family Sharing – it’s awesome that I can let my family and friends play my games without them having to buy their own copies! It’s super convenient for households with multiple PCs. However, I’ve also heard it’s unfortunately been used by some players who’ve been banned to create new accounts and get around those bans, which is a real shame.
Now that we’ve made this update, cheaters won’t be able to avoid a suspension by simply switching accounts or using a different computer. If one of your accounts violates our rules, all accounts connected to it will be locked, even if others didn’t do anything wrong.
Embark explained that players who had a family member removed from their account still have options. They can buy their own copy of the game, but they’ll need to wait for any existing ban on their original account to be lifted first.
Essentially, when we catch someone cheating, we can temporarily block them and anyone they were working with. This helps discourage cheating and stops others from using the same unfair methods.
