Patrick Soderlund, the CEO of Embark Studios, is going to apologize to an Italian hotel after fans mistakenly flooded it with reviews. This happened because the hotel shared a name with a location featured in their game, Arc Raiders.
Since its release in November 2025, Stella Montis has become a particularly controversial map in Arc Raiders. Though it’s packed with good loot, players often end up battling each other there due to its narrow spaces, tough enemies, and intense atmosphere – it’s become known as the go-to map for those seeking conflict.
I saw this hotel in Italy, called ‘Stella Montis,’ and the gaming community immediately started joking about it – it’s a pretty obvious reference to a famous in-game location, so we all had a laugh!
Okay, so everyone’s saying this place is awesome to chill at after a long day grinding in the Buried City – seriously, the reviews are full of that. But there’s a HUGE catch: the extraction point is completely swarmed with campers! It’s super frustrating, honestly. Everyone warns you about the ‘rats’ waiting there.
Arc Raiders boss plans to apologize to Stella Montis hotel
I was reading an interview with Patrick Soderlund on IGN, and they asked him about something really funny that was happening. He was totally surprised! He said he hadn’t heard about it and thought it was amazing, but then he felt bad for the hotel involved and said he’d probably need to call and apologize.

They also asked him if the Stella Montis map was named after the hotel, and he confessed he didn’t know if the hotel was the original idea behind the name.
The game’s design is heavily influenced by Italy. Our Chief Creative Officer, Stefan Strandberg, is a big fan of Italian culture and wine, so that’s a major reason. We also believe Italy provides a fitting backdrop for the story for several reasons, but Stefan is best suited to explain those specific details.
I’m now curious, so I’m going to look into this and will likely call the hotel to apologize for any trouble we’ve caused.
It seems this was all meant as a bit of fun, but it makes you wonder how the hotel staff reacted to the reviews. The game Arc Raiders is getting its sixth map in April, so we’ll see if any other real-world places are featured in a similar way.
