Players of the game Arc Raiders are reacting negatively to a new character skin called The Abyss. Many are criticizing its leg design, and a lot of online jokes are comparing it to a popular meme featuring the character Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants.
The new Abyss character skin was released on January 13th and immediately sparked discussion on Reddit. Players noticed and commented on the intricate, lace-like pattern on the character’s legs, with many finding the design distracting or odd. Some jokingly compared the legwear to knee pads.
As soon as the new skin dropped, I noticed something hilarious – every time anyone talked about its design, the comments section exploded with GIFs and pictures of Patrick Star wearing those iconic fishnet leggings from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie! It was a total meme-fest and everyone was referencing it.
For God’s sake, embark, give me the opportunity to remove these bdsm knee pads and my life is yours

Arc Raiders leg corsets design rejected by players
Once screenshots started circulating, people quickly began creating memes, like comparison pictures and reaction images. A particularly popular meme asked if anyone else felt the same way, showing a progression from excitement to shock when legs were revealed.
Someone then edited the image again, this time removing the pants and replacing them with fishnet stockings and heels. This change reinforced the ongoing joke about SpongeBob.
Many players feel the negative reaction to the game goes deeper than just jokes, and actually shows disappointment with how Arc Raiders is handling character customization and appearance options.
Players have been sharing feedback that the quality of recent character skins has been inconsistent. The “Abyss” set, in particular, has drawn a lot of criticism, and it’s not just a few isolated complaints. Many users agree that most of the outfit looks good, but the leg design doesn’t quite fit and weakens the overall appearance.
Finally a nice Skin

People have been comparing Arc Raiders to Embark’s other game, The Finals, which lets players fully customize their character’s appearance. Currently, Arc Raiders doesn’t offer that same freedom – players can only choose complete outfits. Some players feel this makes it harder to ignore designs they don’t like.
Honestly, the biggest thing people were asking for was more control over how our characters looked. Everyone wanted to be able to customize individual body parts, and we all wanted way more color choices! It was definitely the most popular request I kept seeing.
