Apple TV’s Remake Of Martin Scorsese’s Iconic Psychological Thriller Revealed In First Images

Martin Scorsese’s famous thriller movie is getting a TV remake soon.

New images have been released offering a first look at Apple TV+’s reimagining of Martin Scorsese’s classic thriller, Cape Fear. The series stars Javier Bardem as Max Cady, a dangerous criminal seeking revenge on his former lawyer, Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson), and Bowden’s wife, Anna (Amy Adams), after being released from prison.

Apple TV has shared new photos from the upcoming series Cape Fear, giving fans their first look at Javier Bardem, Josh Wilson, and Amy Adams as their characters. The images suggest a tense and frightening drama, focusing on Max Cady’s pursuit of revenge against the Bowden family. The show will premiere on Friday, June 5th.

Check out the images below:

The show will have 10 episodes. The cast includes CCH Pounder as a main character, and Jullian Dulce Vida, Lily Collins, Joe Anders, Ron Perlman, Ted Levine, and Patrick Fischler will appear in recurring roles. Filming began in late April 2025 and finished in October 2025.

Nick Antosca, known for his work on shows like Hannibal and Channel Zero, is leading the television adaptation of the story. Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are also involved as executive producers through their companies, Sikelia Productions and Amblin Television, respectively.

As a film buff, I find it fascinating how often they revisit John D. MacDonald’s novel, The Executioners. It’s been adapted as Cape Fear three times now! The original came out in 1962 with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum, and then Martin Scorsese did a fantastic take on it in 1991, starring Nick Nolte and Robert De Niro. It’s interesting to see how each director interprets the same story.

The new photos don’t give away much about the plot, but they show that Max’s plan to get revenge will play out in the public eye. The expressions on Adams’ and Wilson’s faces suggest a lot of intense drama is coming once Max starts putting his plans into action.

Because the new Cape Fear series has a longer format, it has the opportunity to explore details from the original book that previous movie adaptations didn’t include. It will also likely feature fresh ideas, making it distinct from earlier versions.
