Apple TV’s Pluribus Gets Season 2 Release Update

Apple TV+’s popular sci-fi show Pluribus, starring Rhea Seehorn, finished its first season in late December 2025 and quickly became the most-watched series in the streamer’s history. Fans are now eager to find out what happens next.

The show, starring Karolina Wydra and Carlos Manuel Vesga, was highlighted at Apple TV’s recent press event in Santa Monica. During a discussion, creator Vince Gilligan addressed a key question for fans of Pluribus: the status of Season 2’s writing process.

Look, we’re working hard, really hard. My writers and I are constantly at it, and honestly, we’re incredibly grateful to the fans for the support that’s gotten us this far. Creating each episode takes a surprising amount of time, and right now, we’re further along in the process than I’d like to be, especially since we still haven’t fully mapped out all the episodes. But it’s a similar pace to what we experienced during the first season – it just takes time to get it right.

Gilligan has been developing the idea for Pluribus for over ten years and anticipates a lengthy production process for the second season. He asked for viewers’ patience, clarifying that new seasons won’t arrive on a strict annual schedule like the original The X-Files. While he hopes to return in the same month each year, the exact year of the next season is still to be determined. He specifically stated it won’t be like The Pitt, where seasons came out consistently every year.

Since the show Pluribus first appeared on Apple TV in November 2025, it’s unlikely we’ll see a new season before November 2027, and it could even be delayed until November 2028 or beyond.

Seehorn Won a Golden Globe for Her Portrayal of Carol

At the Golden Globes in January, Rhea Seehorn won an award for her work in a television drama series. After accepting the award, she announced that the team behind Pluribus had already begun working on a second season, and that creator Vince Gilligan was enthusiastic about starting it.

Seehorn explained that he’s eager to get back to work and doesn’t want to keep fans waiting. He’s taking the time needed to make sure the show is the best it can be for everyone following the story, and they’ll return as quickly as possible.

Pluribus Season 1 is streaming on Apple TV.
