Apparently, Taylor Swift Really, Really, Really Hated All Those Workouts For The Eras Tour: ‘It’s Horrible’

As a huge Taylor Swift fan, I knew The Eras Tour was going to be spectacular, but I don’t think anyone truly grasped how physically demanding it was! She and her whole crew were running and dancing non-stop for over three hours on a stage that felt enormous – basically the size of a football field – all while performing songs from every single one of her albums. Now, she’s been talking about the training she went through to prepare, and honestly, it sounds like she absolutely dreaded getting into shape for it! She really, really didn’t enjoy the process, apparently.

Before the The End of an Era documentary came out on Disney+ in 2025, Taylor Swift revealed she’d been preparing for the Eras Tour by running on a treadmill and singing every song on the setlist. Episode 3 of the series showed her doing just that, and she explained why this intense training was so crucial, even though she didn’t particularly enjoy it. She stated:

This tour pushed us further than any other I’ve done. I used to think a two-hour and fifteen-minute show was long, but we’re now performing for three and a half hours! It sounds crazy, and it’s incredibly demanding physically. I’m in worse shape than ever, honestly – I’ve never trained this hard.

I can definitely relate to not enjoying exercise, and I understand why she felt the way she did. But I also know how good it is for you, so pushing through was important, even though it was tough. As Taylor Swift explained, she had to run a significant distance – around eight miles – during the concert, which isn’t easy! That’s why practicing on the treadmill while singing was so crucial for her, as she mentioned.

I needed to get in much better shape, so I started training intensely six months before my first rehearsal. Every day, I ran on the treadmill while singing my songs at the same pace, just to make sure I wouldn’t be out of breath during the performance.

Disney+ offers access to popular content like the Eras Tour concert film and the BTS docuseries, The End of an Era. A subscription starts at $11.99 per month with ads. You can remove the ads for $18.99 monthly, or save 16% by paying $189.99 annually. See the deal here.

Although Taylor Swift recognizes the benefits of exercise and genuinely enjoys being active, she doesn’t seem to love her actual workout routine. The docuseries shows her training with Kirk Myers, and in one scene, while doing pull-ups, she expresses her dislike for the process.

I never use this during the show. I just want to point out that I always struggle with pull-ups.

That comment made me think back to math class, trying to figure out how the things we learned would ever be useful in real life – because honestly, I doubted they would be. It feels the same way when I think about working out. But then, as Taylor Swift was stepping down from the bar, she continued to jokingly criticize pull-ups, saying:

Strong dislike. Two thumbs down.

I noticed something really telling during Taylor’s workout. Even when her trainer praised her, she joked that she was only good at it because of all her frustration! Honestly, it seems pretty clear that Taylor isn’t exactly thrilled about hitting the gym.

All her effort really paid off. She had an amazing, record-setting tour, and her fans made incredible memories along the way.

As a huge Taylor Swift fan, I’m dying to know everything about how she made the Eras Tour happen! I’ve been hearing it was an incredible production, and I’m especially curious about the little things – like what she was reading on the bus and how she decided on those surprise songs each night. Luckily, the last two episodes of The End of an Era are dropping on Disney+ on December 23rd, and I’m planning to binge them to get all the behind-the-scenes details.
